Obama Says All Gun Buyers Should Face Checks By JARED A. FAVOLE
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama on Wednesday said all gun buyers should be subject to background checks, offering his most specific proposal in the wake of the shooting spree at a Connecticut school and setting up a potential fight with gun-rights advocates.
"This time words must lead to action," Mr. Obama said from the White House, where he also announced that Vice President Joe Biden would oversee an effort to get ideas for changing gun and mental-health laws to Congress. "The fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing."
Mr. Obama spoke five days after the shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., left 20 children and six adults dead. The shooting has prompted widespread calls for a look at the nation's gun and mental-health laws. The president acknowledged the call for quick change, speaking on a day when more funerals were planned for some of the victims.
Mr. Obama said he wanted Mr. Biden and his cabinet to get concrete ideas to him no later than January, "proposals that I then intend to push without delay." He urged Congress to vote on the measures once they arrive.
Mr. Biden could be essential to getting any changes to gun and mental-health laws through Congress, as he has decades of experience as a senator and often is Mr. Obama's go-to person when the president seeks to build support on Capitol Hill. Mr. Obama said he also chose Mr. Biden because he wrote a 1994 crime bill that led to a drop in violence.

If there are going to be more laws and restrictions then perhaps illegal aliens should not be allowed to buy guns. That will tick them off. In fact we should find a way to attack leftst groups every chance we get.

Supporters of the 2nd Amendment should be relieved; if Obama were serious about curbing gun ownership by private citizens, he would not have appointed Biden to oversee the effort.
how about sending guns to Mexico which have killed hundred and still do.

notice how the left ignore their failed social engineering, how they attacked the traditional family, told us how to raise kids and now we have this crap going on.
Notice how some are ignoring how the mother took her kid to the gun range when she knew he was out of mainstream and how she left the guns about.
Did she biy the guns for herself or was it for her kid thinking she was losing him so she wanted to buy him what he wanted and be his friend.
If she wanted those guns then she must be just a handful of CT women teachers then.
Who writes these headlines? I thought this was another stimulus idea. He should suggest that idea to Eric Holder. Holder can implement it before selling guns to Mexican drug cartels.
Just a simple statistical question, how many of the guns used by convicted criminals were legally bought by those same criminals? If the percentage is what I think it is, what would this effort accomplish OTHER than adding to the government control and cost of the transaction? Would it have stopped this crime?

All candidates for any public office from dog catcher to president should face background checks up the wazoo including the ‘mental health’ checks they are so frikking fond of. They should be disqualified for past and/or present drug and alcohol use and be drug tested every single month. Felons should be automatically disqualified. Their finances should be open to public scrutiny every day that they serve and there should be no exemptions for themselves from any law they pass on their constituents.
And that is just for starters.
Let Obama and Biden declare ALL guns and ALL ammo banned in Chicago & D.C. as a test case for their new gun legislation.
We could see how it works in the most dangerous places in the country, before letting them take away the Second Amendment rights that were enumerated by the Founders.

Our mistake is accepting their premises.
They put forth benevolent, high-sounding goals,
but those aren’t their actual goals.
Their goal is total subjugation and control.
Everything they do makes sense through that lens.
Notice how they NEVER say what they’re going to do about guns in the hands of criminals? Never. It’s deliberate. They intentionally leave guns in the hands of criminals and do everything they can to keep honest, law-abiding citizens from having them.
They want the “downtrodden” “underclass” “oppressed” to rise up and take what is “rightfully” theirs from the “oppressors.”
Sure Barry, right after a national Voter ID requirement, enforcing the law on ~20M illegal aliens living in the country, and you tell us ALL about Fast-n-Furious and Benghazi..
