Nationally, firearm NICS checks broke the record in November, with 2,006,919 checks. This beat the prior December 2011 record of 1,862,327.

It's always a case of losing one's firearms in a "boating accident" isn't it? Yes, yes, I know it's a FR inside joke but it wore thin and old some 10-12 years ago.
Two things:
Can't you and others think of some other way that the "firearms" were lost? Lack of imagination, I suppose.
If a Hitler-like government takes over, do you think your little azz will be saved by telling the storm troopers some cockaminny tale like that?
Curious as to your opinion on buying some “give away” cheap guns to give the storm troopers whilst you keep your good stuff cached away somewhere...
Of course, you’d have to know the confiscation was underway and get this all set up ahead of time.
Imagine how many other folks are doing the same thing .....:-) The ‘new record’ number is no doubt a good bit understated as to the numbers of folks arming themselves or beefing up their arsenals.
I’ll tell them I sold them to some guy named OldPossum here is the receipt. :)
Mine are actually safely dispersed in a couple locations except for the couple I keep around for use and the couple cheap ones as throw downs.
ah, the “throw downs”. That’s what I was talking about.
“Here ya go Mr Jackboot. I had to sell all my good stuff in order to buy food.”
You’re probably right but they have other ways. Unless you pay cash for ammunition there is a record of that. Home insurance companies keep the records also. Sign-in sheets at the gun range. Hunting licenses.
A myriad of ways they can tell.
And this with the huge computer crashes and freezes by the NICS the weekend after Thanksgiving...
Anybody who ever bought ammo or mags with a credit card will also be flagged. They know what weapon goes with what ammo.
Let's be blunt. If it comes to that it will be time to be using them.
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward."

I’ve got plenty of cash-only and some credit card BLOAT purchases; some private firearms purchases and some on 4473’s. They know only what I want them to know. It’s what they don’t know that will be the bitch.
Keep your powder dry.
Probably grows faster than my black locust trees...
So much for a quiet and gentle old age.
When it all collapses what difference does it make if they have you on record or not? The bullets will be flying every direction anyway. Pick up a gun from a fallen warrior and keep shooting.
Then you cannot purchase anything newly manufactured.
Sure limits what you can have, and how much you will pay for it.
I hate FedGov as much as anybody, but who are they going to find in 2 million firearms transfers per month?
Heh, Heh. Yeah, I’m getting to be a rather crotchety and cantankerous old fart.
