What's in your bug out bag? My eldest calls them Good bags, Get out of Dodge. My second daughter (see home page) calls it her apocalypse crate, a rubber maid container filled with all the stuff she'll need, and has it in her car. It has all her old army stuff that couldn't be returned. For example, gas masks, mre's etc.
Ours has the normal stuff, blankets, food, flashlights, water, clothes, fire, ammo, etc. It might be a good thread to have input, suggestions, what's good, what's frivolous.
I’m bugging IN. Interested in what others have to say though.
I am buggin in and going to do some leech pest control before the good lord takes if the SHTF
Where we are, like you, it makes more sense for us to stay put. But, we’re ready, just in case.
Freeze dried food. Datrex bars, water purification, turbo lighter, ka bar, paracord, antibiotics and meds, rain gear, tarp, firestarters, glock 21, dry bag with a change of clothes, wool blanket. More than that to heavy to carry. Bug out vehicle is different.
Awesome FReeper name, BTW.
Is that you? My brother?
thanks! not many ‘get it’ As a bonus, my name is Cindy.
I’m not leaving. Unless you are living in the city near the bad parts of town, leaving would be stupid.
I’m not too far from the city, so maybe not the best option, but I don’t have any other property to go to. My Condo is attached though, and between two others.
Backup plan is my brother’s farm an hour away.
I'm with you. If TSHTF there is no in out out. There is not a city that can't be blocked by major ingress/egress routes.
I live in a small town, but a long way from the city. Our intention is to bug in (with or without the bldg being in tact. If we leave, it will have to be by car.
We have car kits for when we leave the immediate area.
Our bugout bags are backpacks but are effectively permanently backed softsided luggage to which we would add other things...like weapons and additional food.
STOP ADVERTISING WHAT YOU’VE GOT! AND STOP ASKING. JEEZE.
there is no in out out = in or out
I’m gonna wait to be rescued by FEMA.
;-@
BOBs are fun mental exercises, but history looks unkindly on refugees.
Bugging IN is the best solution, unless you have a settled, stable, stocked and FORTIFIED bug-out location.
Anyway, I’ve seen BOBs that weigh over 100 lbs. Not bad in a car, but if you’re forced to foot it, 35-45 lbs might be more realistic and survivable.

If the SHTF, and city folks flee, perhaps your best bet is to stay put.
As for your brother’s farm, map out an alternative route, just in case. County roads, off the beaten path, avoid the interstate, etc.
LOL, us military families must think alike. Maybe we are brothers with what’s about to come.
What did I say other than the obvious? Any serious prepper knows to talk in generalities.
