Where we are, like you, it makes more sense for us to stay put. But, we’re ready, just in case.

I'm with you. If TSHTF there is no in out out. There is not a city that can't be blocked by major ingress/egress routes.

I assumed not many people would be bugging in, but I am as well. My home is close to a reservoir and unfortunately, I don’t have the resources for a bug-out location. I feel like leaving one’s home is one of the worst things to do in time of crisis unless in immediate danger.

I think there are (at least) two separate scenarios here. A SHTF type disaster (man-made or natural) where staying put in your home is the best option. Then yes, food, water, medical supplies, heat & light, weapons and ammunition to protect you and yours from the idiot have-nots that think they're entitled to yours...

The true BOB is for when you have to leave on extremely short notice. Others have posted pretty good lists, I'd include a compass and a paper map of the local area, money, mess kit, and a tarp/shelter, water containers, folding shovel, machete/axe... Yes, it must be limited to about 50 lbs. You can go a little heavy, and discard what may not be appropriate for the situation. The BOB is for when you have to go and should be viewed as the first part of your E&E plan. Like when Holder's peeps show up...

Same here. Don’t really have a place to bug out to, and there’s no way I’m taking my chances in a government-run emergency ‘shelter’.

The main artery for travel through the part of KY we live in is only US-75 - it’ll get clogged and jammed up in record time if something bad happens. Even the back roads and back-back roads will soon follow I’d imagine.

I sincerely believe we’re better off staying put as long as we can, and we’re preparing accordingly.

better to stay put. too quick stuff will be shut down, accidents will happen, traffic jams you won’t get anywhere. sorry. that is what happens in the best of times. hunkr down, at least being at home you have a reason to fight your home and land and people you care about. you get over the first hump and you’ve got a real chance to make it.
