I umpire for a softball association in North Texas and I happened to be umpiring a game in which a sponsored team with all employees from McAfee were playing. I happened to be talking to one of the players who mentioned that he was looking for new work.
I said " You work for Mcafee right?"
His reply: "Negative. They just laid off close to 2000 workers and most of my team were part of the layoffs."
I seemed partially skeptical due to the fact that news similar to this is popping up everday on layoffs and I figured 2000 workers was a huge pill. Most of the reports we are hearing are a few hundred or under a hundred, not 2000.
I am asking for research and see if we have any freepers with better know-how knowledge to confirm this.
MS Vista has “Microsoft Security Essentials”, MSE
Don’t know if it’s available for XP, 7 etc
Unless it’s a McAfee subsidiary under a different corporate name, this is not true, it would require a WARN notice, McAfee has not posted one with Texas Workforce Commission.

I figured Otto might just be out in the garage, conducting research on bath salts after getting his computer running so much better (and sending an email to his inbox). Oh, no wait - thats John McAffee.
But I am so distracted with carnal thoughts about all the women in the PC-Matic commercials it took me a week to realize it’s a new guy reciting Ottos lines in the “Flowers” commercial.
Ii reckon you should straighten out all these people too:

Not quite correct; The Obama admin told government contractors they could ignore the WARN requirements, and McAfee has a contract with the government.
If you don’t have any malware virus, then you just have to uninstall whatever anti virus program you have before you install the MS one. It’s free, it’s updated daily, and it really works good.

OK this probably isn’t a consequence of Obamacare.
“Its hard to make money on a product that Microsoft does better and gives away for free.”
They made tons of money off Microsoft’s security holes.
That’s the truth...I made the mistake of installing it once. I barely could even use the internet. I had to completely uninstall it to try and cancel/return my order.
McAffee didn’t have a place on their website to cancel at all.....I finally just wrote it off...
You’re right ME and maybe some other add-ons are all one needs. McAffee is trash as far as I’m concerned. Same goes for Norton.
Microsoft Security Essentials does work on Windows 7. I installed it a few weeks ago and can say that it is the best security software I have ever used. After installation my computer ran significantly faster and I have no worries about security.
It simply is the best.
Move to Beliez while you still can!
My wife and I spent last week in Lima, Peru. Great people down there, but you couldn’t miss the massive military presence, especially at the Palace.
Peace and power flow from the barrels of guns, that are ever-present.
Yea, it’s like dragging a 300 Lb rock around with your mouse!
Seems you were right,
