Louisiana citizens petition White House to 'peacefully' withdraw from US. (from Drudge)

Full title of petition: "Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government." Posted on Drudge.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

Which has what to do, exactly with the Madison's statements concerning the subject at hand?

Applying a like view of the subject to the case of the U. S. it results, that the compact being among individuals as imbodied into States, no State can at pleasure release itself therefrom, and set up for itself. The compact can only be dissolved by the consent of the other parties, or by usurpations or abuses of power justly having that effect.

I want a divorce from the blue states, join with red states and have our own country. Reason: Irreconcilable Differences. The two sides are just polar opposites of each other in almost every issue.

Perhaps, but if the choice is between bucking the 'precednet' with logic and Law or being crushed under the continuation of the consolodation of government, what choice do we really have?

The United States bought Louisiana and it's not going to just give it away. It's not even going to sell it.

Mama, I'll be honest with you. If I wanted to divorce myself from the United States, I would emigrate to another country. Mexico is a choice that offers a smaller, less paternalistic government with much smaller welfare benefits.

I don’t want to leave the United states, I want California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, New York, DC, and a bunch of other Obama kissing country destroying moocher states to leave the United States.

Forget secession. That matter has been settled.

A good idea on its surface, but my family was here while the colonies were forming and were in Texas to help make it a Republic, and I, for one will not be run off by a bunch of tin-plated dictators.

IMHO, the People would be better off educating themselves the informing the feral federal government that WE are NOT citizens of 'the United States', but citizens of these united States.
