The War of Northern Aggression is a huge precedent.

Perhaps, but if the choice is between bucking the 'precednet' with logic and Law or being crushed under the continuation of the consolodation of government, what choice do we really have?

If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute.
Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791

The United States bought Louisiana and it's not going to just give it away. It's not even going to sell it.

Mama, I'll be honest with you. If I wanted to divorce myself from the United States, I would emigrate to another country. Mexico is a choice that offers a smaller, less paternalistic government with much smaller welfare benefits.
