Why can’t we even win in Montana and North Dakota where there are ample angry white men?

Yep. This Senate campaign is the biggest disaster I’ve seen in politics. We should have had 52-54 seats, at at least 50 pessimistically. Pure failure. Cornyn screwed up last time and lost a couple winnable seats, after trying to push Crist against Rubio. This time was a complete failure has got to go, and put one of the young guns in charge. Lee, Toomey, etc. This, in some ways, is worse than the loss of the White House. If we had reached majority, we could have forced some things on Obama (like Clinton in the 90s). Now, we have a bigger Dem majority, rubber stamp for the courts and treaties.

2014 can be a strong year for Republicans, as most of the Dems up for reelection are in red states.

I agree with you, though, we blew golden opportunities to pick up seats in Missouri, North Dakota, and Montana, and lost a seat in Indiana that we had no business losing.

Hard to say for sure, but I can’t help but think the unfortunate comments of Mourdock and Akin helped kill the GOP’s hopes in the Senate.

States that go strongly for Republican presidential candidates still send Dims to the Senate. What sort of bipolar disorder causes this? What unique state issues (farm subsidies) cause these conservative states to persist is this contradictory behavior?

“Why can’t we even win in Montana and North Dakota - - - -”

Mindless stupidity.

People here in ND are overwhelmingly unhappy with obamacare, know the oil boom was not created by obama, but in spite of him, and they elected Frau Heitkamp.

What I do know is many ND’ers believe they should split the ticket, why I do not know. In the past many stated it was to keep a balance of power. But certainly this is not the case with this election. I would have to say the majority of the people of this state are just as dumb as the bluest of states.

I am disgustingly disappointed. I have a good neighbor who openly voiced obama needed to go. But when I mentioned Heitkamp, he was mum. I knew we were in trouble.

I guess, in the end, they voted as most Americans do and that is for who promises to put more of a jingle in their pocket. Agriculture subsidies. Maybe too many Minnesotans moved west to work the oil fields.

I think it is the influence of 'rats living in (relatively) large cities and the education system failing to explain the benefits of Individual Liberty.

Because of Dan Cox, the libertarian taking away 6% from Rehberg.

Also, Rehberg, just didn’t connect with Montanans. He was a land developer type. Tester is a dry land farmer with some Montana bona-fides. Tester kind of led a positive campaign and let the surrogates bash Rehberg non-stop. I had bad Rehberg following me around on every website I went to.

Cox was boosted by a Democrat sponsored Sportsman’s group taking out ads saying that Rehberg supported Homeland Security taking land away from the hunters near the Canadian border, and Dan Cox was the true conservative.

Tester won from Conrad Burns, six years ago, because of the libertarian candidate taking enough of the vote away.

Same thing happened with Hill, the governor candidate this year; the libertarian took it away from him.

Rehberg just didn’t connect. He should have won when Romney took the state pretty handily, 56 to 43. I believe that Montanans just liked Tester’s folkiness and farming roots while all you saw from Rehberg were negative ads about Tester.

Face it...the angry white guy is dwindling away.

I said all along it was to close to call and the out of state GOP cheerleaders here laughed saying Rehberg would win by 10 points...

Montana's don't vote straight party tickets, if the GOP had ran someone who had not been in Washington forever they would have beat Tester..

The 30 million dropped in the race by the out of state superPACs didn't help him either. IMHO the folks running the GOP election campaigns were just out of touch with the real voters and all the rah rah rah was just an attempt to snow the electorate and they did not buy it...

Agreed, the GOP efforts to win the Senate with Cornyn were terrible!

It was a combination of factors that led to this resounding defeat. Connie Mack’s surprisingly poor showing early on against the very weak Nelson took one off the cards.
Then Akin imploded and refused to drop out. We then have Mourdock fall into the EXACT SAME trap (idiot!). We were crippled from here on in.
Romney’s loss in the election tipped the close races to Obama. Allen lost. So did Thompson. I never thought that PA race was a real shot. After all of this, McMahon and Brown in extreme libtard central zones didn’t stand a chance.

We then lost Rehberg due to a libertardian (though I give Ron Paul credit for stepping up and endorsing Rehberg, it wasn’t enough).

TOTAL DISASTER IN THE SENATE.
