Romney ahead of Obama in Pennsylvania by Four Posted on November 2, 2012 by eriecogop

Susquehanna Polling and Research results for Pennsylvania released today shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama 49% to 45% among 1376 likely voters. Two percent are undecided and 3% are for other candidates.

In the same sample Republican Tom Smith leads Senator Casey by two percentage points in the race for the United States Senate seat from Pennsylvania. Smith is at 48% to Casey’s 46% according to this poll.

Diana Irey Vaughan (R) is tied with McCord at 45% each, David Freed(R) trails Kane by 45% to 47% and Maher(R) leads DePasuale 45% to 44%.

This poll shows the highly competitive nature of all statewide races where there are no highly favored candidates and it also reveals that Pennsylvania is definitely in play for both the presidential and senatorial races which will determine control of the direction of this nation between two differing visions on energy independence, education, international trade, balancing the budget and support for small businesses.

Would be funny, but Romney will win Ohio.

I would guess that you and I are about the same age.

I was 10 years old when Richard Nixon destroyed George McGovern in 1972. But already I was fascinated by politics. I watched the DNC and RNC conventions in their entirety - which quite amazed my parents.

I will admit to being for Carter in 1976. Hell, I was only 14 and still hadn't formed my ideology yet. But I was mesmerized by Reagan's RNC speech of 1980 and my conservative roots took hold. I went into Marine Corp boot camp in February 1981 and here I am today!

I had this premonition this morning. Tuesday night, the Obama networks will gleefully call Ohio for Obama around 10pm. And they’ll all dance around the May Pole, or whatever gleeful statists do. “But Pennsylvania is still too close to call!”, they’ll say. And then they will recite all the facts we know by heart... GOP never wins PA, it’s fool’s gold, it’s in the bag, what will Michelle wear to the inauguration?

At 2am, they will admit, what they never thought possible... Romney wins the election, and PA puts him over the top.

I am really not trying to be an Eeyore here, but I went to Susquehanna Polling’s site, and I don’t see any mention of this poll.

I would walk through a blizzard, swim between ice floes, ski, or sledride to the poll on election day. Then when Romney wins, I can go to the hospital with pneumonia happy.

Is anyone running energy focused ads in PA?

This is the Romney & Ryan campaign - not only are they running energy focused ads - this is now playing on gas pumps in swing states across the country - Change at the Pump

GO R&R GO!  ;)

“I’m wondering about NYC. What if a couple million normally dem voters just decide it’s not worth the bother? Could Romney actually win NY?”

Uh, no. I live in NYC and let me point out a few things. New York County (Manhattan) posted 15% for each of McCain, Bush ‘04 and Bush ‘00. Ok, maybe Romney will do slightly better, but I would be shocked if Romney pulled more than about 18% in Manhattan. Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx will be about the same.

Staten Island (Richmond County) sometimes throws in behind the Republicans but they went Obama last time. I would not be surprised if Staten Island goes Romney, but it is liable to be close and there just aren’t many votes there.

Upstate NY? IIRC, NY State delivered a higher tally to Obama than any other state with the possible exception of California. Romney will not win NY or NJ, you can bet the farm on it.

I think Romney will win Ohio too, but I know some insiders say it is the most corrupt state in the nation regarding voting irregularities...even more so than Nevada. I mean the cheat factor there could be 3-4% instead of just a hair.

That’s my only concern with Ohio.

A bottle of wine will work for me to celebrate. But if I need to “drown my sorrows,” I’m going to need a half gallon of Jamaican rum.

Casey and Smith both run energy-centered ads on our talk radio station in Pittsburgh. Smiths talks up his experience with coal; Casey tries to sound incredulous about Smith’s ad by pointing out that he comes from “coal country.”
