LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Hollywood director says she's working with actor John Cusack on a movie about conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.
Director Betty Thomas said Cusack's production company has a script ready that will star the actor as Limbaugh. It's not typecasting: Cusack is an outspoken liberal.
Production is set for next year, Thomas said. The working title is "Rush," Cusack's New Crime Productions confirmed Friday.

Their hope is that they’ll eventually be aired on cable hundreds of times, and ultimately be watched by ten people.

Actually, Cusack is one of my favorite actors. This intrigues me. My guess is he will probably try a “Citizen Kane” type approach to portraying Limbaugh. Cusack is aging and probably is having trouble finding his typical romanic comedy roles. He knows he has to try something different for his career to survive.

I haven’t been to a theater in...... probably 20 years. Between the price of a ticket, noisy brat teens and lousy offerings, it’s just not worth it.

As a young kid I thought.. wow that sounds pretty cool. So I bought Rush’s books and I have never been the same since.

I’m surprised that they’re not casting Michael Moore as Rush Limbaugh.
I had a similar experience. I strted watching Rush’s TV show in the early/mid 90s.

Sounds like they’re gearing up for a huge conservative smear campaign in the post-0bama era, which we are about to experience in a mere 4 days.
Not many people know that during Rush Limbaugh’s peak, before other republicans had shows, Hollywood made a sit-com with a Rush character as the lead, Henry Winkler.
It should have been a smash hit, with just the portion of viewers from his 22 million radio listeners alone, but Hollywood made a strange(just kidding) and costly mistake, they made Rush the loser, the butt of the humor, a buffoon.
Who could have predicted that a show geared to the people with no interest in Rush, his show, his fresh political insights, or why he was a media phenomena, and designed to mock, and repulse the natural audience for the show, the millions of potential viewers who were the only reason for the show to be made, would fail.
oh, I suspect if it makes him look like a big enough scumbag, there will be no shortage of liberals who would pay to see it.
So, let’s make an Obama movie. I can smell a Malpaso Production in the works.
My daughter turned me on to Rush; said she thought I’d like him. She was RIGHT! One of the first things I heard was “THE KENNEDY CHRONICLES” and “The Philanderer.” I was hooked.

Seriously, look at Joe Miklosi’s campaign against Mike Coffman in Colorado. Look at how many times they mention Rush Limbaugh.

Aside from the fact that it will obviously be a hit piece, I think it’s a little weird to do a biopic of somebody who is still living.

lol. We will see how much this film makes. Obama 2016 made 32 million. Although tempting to see it (as a comedy of course) I will not give a dime towards this movie even though John Cusack is a pretty decent actor.
Betty Thomas directed Howard Stern’s Private Parts, another docudrama about a superstar radio talk show host. Big difference being Stern cooperated and starred in that one.
So, let’s make an Obama movie
Conservatives did already. You can see it on DVD. It is called Obama 2016. Scary stuff. I don’t get to upset over movies made of conservatives since we make movies about liberals like Obama.
I anticipate 5 minutes spent on Rush’s radio success and 85 minutes on his drug problem.
