John B. Gurdon of the U.K. and Shinya Yamanaka of Japan shared this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work in so-called cellular reprogramming, which has unleashed a wave of advances in everything from cloning to the possible treatment of diseases using stem cells....
It also allows scientists to create human embryonic stem cells without having to destroy human embryos, sidestepping an approach that has long been fraught with ethical controversies. Most important, perhaps, it has significantly advanced the prospect of using a patient's own mature cells to create fresh tissue and treat disease.

Sorry, no. Embryonic stem cell research is needed as an excuse for abortions. It was never about outcomes. It was always about misdirection.
Embryonic Stem Cell research is a dead end. There has been nothing valuable resulting from it, but the pro-death crowd wants it to continue so that they can say that some “good” comes out of abortion.
BTW, since Roe vs Wade, over 60 MILLION lives have been snuffed out. That rivals the death count of some very nasty 20th Century Dictators, whose names I shall not mention, in order to be in compliance with “Goodwin’s Law”.
Meanwhile, Stem Cell research that is NOT from aborted babies continues quietly, saving and restoring lives.
Go Figure.
You stupid right wing nuts need to realize that there will always and forever be an overwhelming need to kill unborn babies so we can harvest their organs for other legitimate purposes.
"I agree",said her good friend,Tiller The Killer, from his particularly unpleasant little corner of Hell!
Sorry, michael j fox and others. I KNEW BACK THEN that Gd would NEVER cure us with our own dead children. It was a test. THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER WAY.
Bump
Superman was wrong, George W Bush was right, and California wasted another $300 million.
DING, DING, DING...WE HAVE A WINNER.
Indeed, this in no way “eliminates the need for embryonic stem cells”,
because that need is based on the absolute NEED for had-aborts to justify their past decisions by having “science” show that what they killed was not a human and was just a “clump of cells” that now can be useful for harvesting.
The abortion debate is not, and has not been for a long time, about access to future abortions, but about justifying past abortions.
That is not the underlying drive.
Kathleen Sebelius - one of the many faces of evil.
“the pro-death crowd wants it to continue so that they can say that some good comes out of abortion.”
Bingo! Bears repeating.
The only thing embrionic stems cells could ever be used for it pure research and even that is limited, we could do a lions share of the research on Embryonic Chimpanzee stem cells instead because a lot of the embryonic research is to determine HOW they work. Then only finish up using human fetal stem cells to fill in the small gaps left over.
Using Fetal stem cells as a base material in treatments is just plain dumb as you will still have the issue of tissue rejection and the cell going rouge easier and becomming cancerous as in that stage they are programed to reprocude heavily....
Adult stems cells are better because the body already has them, they are already “pre-programmed” to not be “fetal-istic” in their roles and we have also figured out how to isolate them. Plus if you extract stems cells from someone, multiply them and inject them back in there is absolutely NO chance of tissue rejection.
The fetal stem cells we need for “pure research” can esily be supplied using unbilical cord cells, miscarraiges caused by trauma like car accidents, etc... (you don’t want miscarriges caused by genetic disorders). There is no need for giant quantities of fetal stem cells for “end treatment”, as the fetal cells are only needed for pure lab research such as determining the mechanisms for cell growth a difrentiation.
Once we know that, it can be applied to adult stem cells which can save millions more lives than having to steal raw material from actual fetuses that could be carcinogenic.
That is the only caveat for even NEEDING to use fetal stem cells. It would only be a reasearch tool ONLY and would NEVER want to use fetuses as a “Stem Cell Crop” for the raw material for actual treatments.
Of course Planned Un-Parenthood would love to get another “Cash Crop” and would love to use “fetal stem cell treatment” as an excuse to do so.
Indeed, this in no way eliminates the need for embryonic stem cells,
because that need is based on the absolute NEED for had-aborts to justify their past decisions by having science show that what they killed was not a human and was just a clump of cells that now can be useful for harvesting.
The abortion debate is not, and has not been for a long time, about access to future abortions, but about justifying past abortions.
They were trying to justify Evil by claiming it was for the “Common Good”, this is how Evil always tries to justify itself.
I mean if you wanted stem cells for pure research, embryonic stem cells could be provided from miscarriges caused by trauma ie. ( car wrecks, accidental falls, etc...) that way some good could come from a tragedy, but no good comes from “Manufactured Tragedy”.
It would be like trying to justify the execution of old people because you would be using their organs... True some good would come out of saving lives, but the EVIL and INHUMANE act of killing the old people because they are old and you need their organs would never ever come close the equaling the amount of “good” that came of it.....
bkmk
Thank you for your kind affirmation.
I have already received some mean-spirited FReepmail on my comment, so it is nice to read your comments! :-)
(Yep, we have some folks like that on FR.)
Doesn’t matter to the libtards. Won’t stop them. They are not after anything that resembles the truth but rather they live to control the masses for their own selfish purposes.
