When They Come For Your Guns, You Will Turn Them Over

August 13, 2012
By Jim Karger

“When they come for my gun, they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” is a common refrain I often hear from the Neo-Cons when there is a threat, credible or otherwise, that the US government is going to take their firearms.

And, when I hear this crazy talk, I agree with them openly. “You are right. They will pry your gun from your cold dead hands,” which I often follow with the question, “And where will that leave you except face down in a pool of your own blood [in] the middle of the street, just another dead fool resisting the State?”

This is not a question they are comfortable with, if only because the intent of their saber-rattling was to imply they would fight to keep their weapons, and win.

Nice fantasy. It’s not happening.

If the federal government decides to disarm the public, and when the increasingly-militarized rolls down your street after a not-so-subtle request that you kindly turn over your firearms and ammunition “for the common good,” it will be nothing less than suicide by cop to do anything other than what you are told.

The militarization of US police forces is ongoing and escalating. Many cities and towns now own tanks, armed personnel carriers, even attack helicopters, and almost all are outfitted with military weapons not available to the general public.

And, it is not just your hometown cops who are getting new boy-toys. The military itself is buying up weaponry not just for use in the current or next scheduled war, but to deal with the likes of you, citizens who don’t seem to understand that the Bill of Rights has been overruled, and that specifically includes, but is not limited to, the right to protest and engage in civil disobedience.

Also ignored (as if it didn’t even exist) is the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which generally bars the military from law enforcement activities within the United States.

According to Public Intelligence:

“…for the last two years, the President’s Budget Submissions for the Department of Defense have included purchases of a significant amount of combat equipment, including armored vehicles, helicopters and even artillery, under an obscure section of the FY2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the purposes of ‘homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.’ Items purchased under the section include combat vehicles, tanks, helicopters, artillery, mortar systems, missiles, small arms and communications equipment. Justifications for the budget items indicate that many of the purchases are part of routine resupply and maintenance, yet in each case the procurement is cited as being ‘necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities’ under section 1815 of the FY 2008 NDAA.”

And, they are not just arming cops and weekend warriors for domestic purposes. Active duty Marines are now being trained for law enforcement operations all over the world (of which the US remains a part) specifically to deal with civil uprisings, and the US government knows that civil uprisings are coming to a town near you just as soon as the fantasy of a healing economy is shattered, the US dollar fails, and unemployment goes to 30%+ in real numbers.

And, to you tough-talking Neo-Cons with your AR-15 rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo, here is the reality: they will take your guns, and no, all your Second Amendment bluster aside, you are not going to do anything about it. You are not going to take on a platoon of Marines with state-of-the-art automatic weapons and the best body armor you cannot buy protected by armed personnel carriers and attack helicopters unless you choose to die that day — for nothing. You will either be in the country or out, and if you are in, you will stay in and you will comply.

That is your choice… for the moment.

they don't forsee the business end of the dogs of war aimed at them, only those they think they oppose.

There is a certain group of FR jackboot worshipers that this applies to as well.

We are also not stupid. We know any authoritarian would like nothing better than to face down individual targets with overwhelming force.

If you call yourself a conservative, why is it you subscribe to the assumptions of the liberal when evaluating our people?
-----------------------------------

Why, because I have done my research and it is the truth, do you think I support them? Our people? We are not of like mind at this site on what a conservative is. It means what ever people want it to mean. I have posted the ten principles below before and because it requres thinking and not emotional response very few comments. http://www.kirkcenter.org/index.php/detail/ten-conservative-principles/

We are at the point of the standard Nuremberg defense - I only did what I was told. I see a lot of quotes here that we are different but that is the PAST, we ARE A SOCIALIST COUNTRY NOW we cannot manage under the assumption of the past. I am acquainted with people in the National Guard who WILL follow orders given to them because they have been taught to obey orders I am not subscribing to the assumptions of the liberals, I am telling you that liberals know how to manipulate human nature and WILL use it. They have and are.

Your bravado tells me you do not understand the enemy.

God created us as sheep to follow him, that has been perverted to follow the state. If we remove the current state, we will then follow another state. That was the french revolution our forefathers detested. Our revolution was toward something (mostly), which was God. MOST evidence I see here on FR is that conservatives want to replace the current state with another state. "our laws are better than their laws" I have been told on this site. Govt is the solution for every problem whether liberal or conservative. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM and the nature of man and the history of man. Germany's choice was between communists and socialists (More govt or more govt) We are at the same choice. When they come for you, your choice is to give them your guns and survive for another day, deny you have them and be taken away, or shoot them and be killed. Now what will you and I do? (hint, you don't know unil it happens)

“...thin veneer of civility...”

And most of that “thin veneer” has been on our side. Because we’ve tried to compromise, tried to be reasonable, tried to be tolerant and patient.

This right is non-negotiable. Period.

I’ve noticed that despite the “Please: no profanity...” call for civility on the posting-comment page, there is an uncommon amount of vulgarity, name-calling, personal attacks — and surprisingly little respect here for contrary opinions. It will continue to repel thoughtful and courteous freepers and diminish the tone of the site.

But your comment is appreciated. The only good that comes from name-calling and foaming irrationality, is that once I see it I feel free to ignore the poster rather than attempt to reason with him.

Then there’s the folks who don’t seem to understand that posting one’s opinion on an opinion forum does not entail any obligation to elaborate, answer questions, accept essay assignments, or otherwise jump hoops at the whip crack of any anonymous poster who swaggers up with a random command.

Good luck cleaning the Augean forum!

So let’s see your research, and see if you’ve applied it correctly.

The Agenda 21 program is the biggest problem. It is a collective machine designed to remove all of our individual liberties and property rights from us. I wish I had some idea how to awaken FReepers to this fact.

Some of us are very aware. Pity more people are not. Bring it up, send them to the UN's own website and they still refuse to believe the evidence before their eyes.

This is reason #1 why we cannot afford to risk a 2nd Obama administration.

He will not HESITATE to use the military against the citizens if he thinks he can get away with it.

“..Every one dies; the difference between me and the writer is I CHOOSE TO DO IT ON MY FEET, not my knees....”

I think you just hit the nail on the head, regarding the way the author (and libs in general) think.

They can’t seem to grasp that some people actually are willing to die for what they believe, and conversely kill those coming to destroy everything they hold dear.

Nobody wants to die. But we all do, eventually. The real question is why these morons want to HASTEN it for themselves and for us by writing blatant agitprop screeds like this article...

I just wish that people still understood “live and let live” but sadly that concept seems long-erased from consciousness.

Dumbasses...they want death and destruction so they can build some Utopia that never existed - or could - and think that it won’t touch them when it all blows up.

Bahahahahahahaha!

You don’t seem to understand your “opinion” is worthless without substantiation. We are not here to provide “atmosphere” for your philosophical masturbation.

There is a certain group of FR jackboot worshipers that this applies to as well.

It is easier for them to believe that they really are here to help. Perhaps they just don't want to admit that those elements are present, be it in their profession or just in their community, but they are.

Just as people tend to believe that CPS or the equivalent agency exists to 'help' children. While some may think they are doing just that, and some agencies might, the bottom line is not the welfare of children, but control (and employment of people who have college degrees in fields which would otherwise have them asking repeatedly if someone wanted fries with that.

Not saying anything provacative...but I'm rather proficiemt at 300 yds with my 30-06...and have a LOT of 30-06 ammo. I won't be at home either.

You raise some good points, you and I of our like mind, but let me make some additional points.

1 It will be our neighbors who will turn us in. Obamacare has set up a big bureaucracy for us to report infidels to for example. There is always a local individual who will want to have power over us.

2) We are past a republic and even past a democracy, we are bureaucracy, voting is an illusion. They voted a lot in the soviet union. I have asked libs why they don't fear big govt like they fear big business and the answer they give me is that they can vote - fools.

3) I was raised that we were all equal before the law and God, do we understand how few people think the same? And the long path to get back to that thinking?

4) I trying to be a realist, it will be PAINFULL process correcting things as we are far off course, but it is possible. HOw problable, I don't know.

“...I love my country. I love my people also... Americans are a good people, an optimistic and fair people, and willing to long suffer abuses before arising....”

I love this country too, brother. And the idea of it. And the Ideal of it.

That’s what this is all about at the end of the day.

Your post is amazing, and it that statement above should make every commenter on this thread choke up and remember why we are who we are, and what we are.

This country truly IS the Last Best Hope. And if it goes away, it’ll be a long time before there’s ever anything like it again.

“I love my country...” - a sentiment that the other side has been methodically trying to erase.

(Psst...It ain’t working...we still DO)

The author of the article blatantly wrote it to elicit exactly the responses it’s getting.

I hope you guys are right about enough of us fighting back. However, I see this being done on a regular basis right now and no one is putting a stop to it. They just label the people they kill as “drug users” and very few people complain, even when the SWAT team gets an entirely wrong address and kills someone totally innocent.

When they start doing the same thing to gunowners, they won’t be labeling them as patriots. They will label them as “domestic terrorists” and the vast majority of the people in this country won’t object.
