Who agreed to this stupid “fast-track” process for this bill? Since the bill wouldn’t have survived Obama’s veto it needs to be slow-rolled until 2013 when Obama is replaced by Romney who at least says he’s against abortion.
What pieces of you know what. I have a daughter from China who is absolutely wonderful, and although abandoned at birth at least her birth mother was a better person then the U. S. House of Representatives (not all of them) that thought it ok if she would have just been aborted. Yes they needed a 2/3 rds vote, but it should have received a 100% vote banning gender selection. This should be a big campaign issue, talk about the ultimate war on women and girls!
I think they were hoping to get an Obama veto, thereby showing who really has started a war on women and baby girls before the election.

Nobody should want this law passed; it is designed to stop the murder of female children rather than all children. It is a bad bill.
Republicans have a majority, but do not control 2/3rds of the House. Maybe, though, we can make a good push toward that number in November.

The GOP wanted to get people on record. They knew even if they had gotten the vote in under normal tracking and won (which they would have) that it would not survive the Senate (which would never bring it up for a vote under Reid) or Obama’s veto in any case.
This way, they got the Nays on record for everyone to see and you can bet the GOP and PACs will use it in November in every race where anyone voting Nay on it is up for election.

A majority of the House voted for the ban, but not enough to override an Obama veto. We have to vote him out of the White House for this to pass, perhaps get a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.

Actually, it’s Romanian.
In Italian, we say, “Ciao”, (pronounced “chow”), which is used for “hi” and “bye”.
Italians answer the telephone thus: “Pronto!” or, “Allo, allo!”.
This line of thinking takes the focus off of the the mother and her "rights" and balances them against the God given rights of the baby.

But there was something about this bill that worried me: It seemed to imply that abortion actually is a "right" — but a right that needs to be "regulated" by Congress.
To me, abortion is no "right" at all. The willful destruction of an innocent human life — for any reason — can never be anybody's "right."

FWIW, I had the same reaction to this bill.
Good ridden, Washington has no business saying one thing or the other on the matter of abortion. Abortion like all other forms of domestic killing/murder is a State issue.
Washington D.C. is too big, too slow, and too distant to make Representative domestic policy. It’s constitution does not permit such distant domestic government for a good reason.

Good this bill would have done nothing to prevent any abortion. We don’t need a Federal abortion agency that would have been the beginning of Federal Thought Police. How would they enforce such a law? We have read your mind and have concluded you hate women that is why you had the abortion...off to prison and reeducation.
Wake up O’sleepers only a bill that protects the right to life of the unborn has any real effect, this was a political do nothing bill.
