New Hampshire has long had a reputation as the most conservative state in the Northeast. Its license plates even say, "Live Free or Die." The Tea Party ought to be a force here.
Just days before the state's primary, New Hampshirites may help Mitt Romney consolidate his position as the Republican front-runner. Not because they support him, but because they cannot unite behind another candidate.

So? The front passenger tire on my car is the roundest.
It’s certainly a viable plan and appears to be working.
Where is the next Ronald Reagan when we need him? It feels like 1980 without Ronald Reagan...sigh
I’m not sold on the idea that either Romney or Santorum can displace our current dictator.
No, the “Tea Party” will NOT help Mitt get the nomination!
IF he receives the nomination....then they will do what is necessary to DEFEAT OBAMA!
ANYONE (_|_) OBAMA!
I think we need to change the way our primaries are conducted to eliminate the manipulation.
5 ten state primary dates 4 weeks apart on a rotating schedule would shake things out nicely. 2 eastern, western, northern, southern, and central states would vote on each date and the candidates could campaign across the whole country.
I'm no expert (like that has ever stopped me from opining) but... I think Iowa showed us that there is considerable enthusiasm for "tea party candidates". Yes, they are divided at the moment, but aside from some of the Paul supporters, you could put almost everyone who voted (except for the Romney folks) into the tea party category or at least argue that they have sympathy for tea party principles.
Despite trying much harder than they let on, the Romney campaign could not get traction in Iowa beyond their standard 25%. As the field narrows over the next few primaries I am inclined to think that Romney will remain about the same with the exception of New Hampshire and a few other bastions of the Rockefeller wing of the party. Once people realize that he can't get any higher, even the support he has will begin to erode as the need to defeat Obama becomes even more apparent.
This has just begun.
Curious, what does the tea party stand for?
I've had some issues with Santorum in the past, but I think he's explained some of them well. I appreciated his tenacity on the WMD reports in 2006. I believe he knew the war was unpopular and supporting it would hurt him, but he did it anyway.
He'll be under more scrutiny after his Iowa showing. I'll be watching to see how he handles the pressure the MSM will undoubtedly put him under. He'll also need to do what he did in Iowa to maintain the momentum: Deliver the message, hit all the areas, attend the meet and greets even if it's just a few people.
I don't think there's going to be a Romney coronation. IMO, whoever gets it will earn it......or buy it.
Mostly fiscal conservatism (the name comes from the acronym for Taxed Enough Already) with a secondary dose of social conservatism.
Niether of them can.
Newt is/was our best shot at it.
Thanks, so if the tea party stands for fiscal conservatism why would you not put Paul in that group? Not trying to be argumentative, we are on the same side, but why diss those that support Paul (like me) if you don’t have to?
The more I hear from Newt, the more I am coming to think that he is the closest thing we are going to get to Reagan.
I was very impressed by the 15 minute "Why is Newt so Angry?" video.
I think that Newton is the only one at this point who:
A) Gets that this election is really about restoring the Constitution and core American values of freedom and limited government;
B) Can clearly and passionately articulate the conservative message in plain language;
C) Has a track record of actually engineering significant advances of the conservative agenda;
D) Is not shy about strongly pushing back against the lies and liberal propaganda of the Obama machine and the liberal media.
E) Is not afraid to speak bluntly about what a disaster Obama has been, and is not afraid to publicly call him out as a radical leftist grossly out of step with core American values, who has seriously damaged our economic viability and our security in the world.
F) Has astonishingly broad knowledge about a wide variety of issues that the next president will have to deal with, and the real experience to understand and drive the political machine in the right direction.
Is he perfect? No. Does he sometimes say injudicious things? Yes. But he strikes me as being open to reason, and has the political vision and experience to get this country headed in the right direction.
And notwithstanding his unfortunate flirtation with Nancy Pelosi on the couch, I don't believe for one minute that at this point Newt has any interest in pushing cap & trade or allowing the EPA to control carbon output in the name of stopping global warming.
So, no disrespect toward you intended. In fact, I figure there are a lot of Romney supporters who line up with tea party values but who have bought into the media mantra that he is the only one who is electable.
Three things to this Tea party supporter:
1. Not Willard 2. Not Willard 3. NOT Willard
A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Willard.
And Ron Paul is not a true conservative. He’s at best, 1/3 conservative, 2/3 VERY LIBERAL.
Well said. Deserves it’s own thread. Try posting it on top. : )
None taken, but we are Americans too, just saying
Excellent post. Newt may be a loose cannon sometimes, but at least he knows where the targets are.
I kinda like the idea of a small honest constitutional government sorry to hear you don’t feel the same.
