YouTube video of debate ^ | 8/12/2011 | RealHarrySeaward

Another post to try to cheer up the Perry supporters. Not meant as an attack on Bachmann:

"Michele Bachmann got stumped and took a 12 second pause to answer a question regarding being a submissive wife at the Iowa GOP debate."

THis is a posting of a you-tube clip of Michelle answering the horrid 'submission' question; at the time, national news was divided between arguing over her answer, and ridiculing the 12-second pause before she answered the question.

Now most people don't remember this; I think one blog brought it up discussing Perry's pregnant pause.

I thought it was the single most pathetic and disgusting question asked in the debates so far.

Nice try replacing the crowd BOOS with the Jeopardy theme.

It was a stupid question and the crowd let the moderators know.

Typical Perry, always trying to show others worse....doesn’t work. Perry is clearly the worst and everyone knows it. His disaster will be discussed for decades if not longer. Bachmann’s whatever was not even a blip.

Were you under the impression that CharlesWayneCT is Rick Perry?

LOL

Perry himself said, “good thing I was wearing boots because I stepped in it bigtime”

Get back to us when you learn the difference between CWCT and Rick Perry.

LOL

As for the worst, how ‘bout this:

Obama reads from a teleprompter, on which others write the words for him. There’s a soundbite when he read the words on a teleprompter that he wasn’t even supposed to read, because the machine got messed up, and it was on an important occasion of State. What he read made no sense, but he read the words anyway.

As for the question to Bachmann, that was a stupid gotcha question if there ever was one. She was likely trying to gather her thoughts as to the best way to handle it, rather than having a memory lapse.

She’s made plenty mistakes, though, mostly in things she said, not in things she didn’t say. She’s said some things in which she got her wires crossed with facts that were mixed up.

Poor guy. Maybe he’d better go back to flying those airplanes. He did that very well. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself! :o(

She wasn’t stumped, she was angry, and took the time to compose herself before answering

You know you could have always posted the one where Obama lost his train of thought and bumbled it.

There is nothing ‘good’ about Mutt Romney. His entire worthless liberal life is a total waste of anything he has ever ate or drank.

Toxic waste dumps and burned-out homes in the slums of Detroit are both smarter, and have more value, than Mutt Romney.

Worms, slugs, and sewer rats are repulsed by, and look down upon Mutt Romney.

Every sane American citizen knows that the shame of his family, and the evilness of his supporters, are an unbearable burden to bear.

The thing is it seems to me that Bachman’s pause worked flawlessly in her favor as it brought out the absurdity of the question in real time—like jaw dropping shock. No one thought it was because she didn’t have a clue.

Perry I’m afraid has, like Palin, become a caricature of himself. Her idiosyncrasies blew her up along with her polling numbers, and it is now the same for Perry, sadly.
She pretended she would run when she couldn’t, and Perry pretended he could debate when he can’t. Go figure. They both will be remembered for tom foolery with their supporters. You have to be able to do both; to run in the first place, and to speak while running.

Perry was probably said to be over prepped is my guess, and it paid off because he looked wonderfully improved, right up to the “Perry moment”. I am still devastated for him, and yes, for myself who still respects him so much and all his accomplishments and for whom I believe to be a really proven conservative, sans the bloopers. However, he is a huge risk now in a debate against the charm machine, Obama, who can be competent in a debate.

Ouch.

Perry should have just asked Gingrich to field the question for him. That is considered an excellent debate strategy.

What the Hell is the question regarding "Submissive Wife" supposed to be for? Is there any more obvious sexually-charged and non-sensical question at a Presidential Debate?

What her answer SHOULD have been was that "in the question, I feel that's more Sexual Harassment than ANY of the 'annonymously sourced" allegations that have been attacking my fellow Candidate, Mr. Cain.

"Please ask me a question that deals with IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT THE COUNTRY IS CONCERNED ABOUT".

It appears you did not read the comments for this thread; if you did, I am astounded that you would think this is trying to make someone else appear worse, given that the purpose was clearly stated.

But thank you for making my point for me: “Bachmann’s whatever was not even a blip”.

It was, for about 3 days after the debate, but nobody thinks about it now.

OF course, I guess if conservatives decide to make the entire debate about Perry’s gaffe, then that’s what everybody will remember. Seems counterproductive to me when we are trying to go after Obama on the economy, but I realise some people have other agendas here.

Well said, Rita. And I feel your pain.

I too believe he is a true conservative, a patriotic American and a good Christian.

It's too bad he can never be president, but he just can't.

Perry didn't have a "pregnant pause".

He Blue Screened.

There's a difference.

And you know it.
