Shalit Captors to Enter Limelight

The terrorists who held kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit for over five years will take center stage alongside Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal in Cairo when he greets the first 477 of 1,027 terrorists being traded for Shalit's release.

Some observers, who noted Israel only promised not to pursue the freed terrorists on condition they do not return to terrorism, made no such promises about those who abducted him and held him captive.

According to the Hamas affiliated Palestine Information Center website, the trade of Shalit for the first 477 security prisoners - most of whom are terrorists - will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Quoting Hamas officials, PIC said the movement urged Arabs in Judea and Samaria to celebrate the release of the terrorists as a "moment uniting all Palestinians."

Meanwhile, the semi-official Palestinian Authority Ma'an news agency reported chairman Mahmoud Abbas will be welcoming the freed terrorists returning to Judea and Samaria.

The PA leader is expected to deliver a festive speech before the detainees proceed to lay a wreath on Yasser Arafat's grave.

But despite outward shows of unity the Shalit deal has created tension between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, who says their rivals in Gaza looked after their own men to the detriment of terrorists from PA ranks.

I have been wondering how they actually will effect this exchange. Where do the Israelis bring the 1000 terrorists? Where do the Palestinians bring Shalit? Does everyone get released and exchanged at once? How does this work?

They can celebrate their criminal cowardice all they like, but one fact stands above all: One Jew is worth a thousand Palestinians, by the Paleos' own admission.

First 450 terrorists released to Egypt. Shalit released TO EGYPT. I don’t like it. What prevents Egypt from adding new demands once they have Shalit?
Once Shalit is returned, the next 350 terrorists released in 60 days, I believe. And so on.
Holding my breath on this.

And what if Israel forgets to release the next 350? This is too good.

Since when has the PLO or Hamas ever held up their part of a bargain?

Egypt has a specific and known return address.

That would make it potentially very costly to blackmail the Israelis with Jewish blood.

Exactly. That's what makes it so hard to arrange a prisoner exchange. How do you physically do it when trust is zero?

Gatherings like this one are why I have always been such a fan of kinetic energy weapons. Imagine delivering one straight down like a meteor at Mach 25+ just as the last one of these fine citizens steps off the bus.....

We would be discussing the new Sea of Gaza....

Israel SHOULD release All the remaining terrorists from an airplane at 30 thousand feet without parachutes over gaza.

This all is based upon the assumption that Shalit is alive.

It would be just like Hamass to send the body of Shalit to Egypt, and Egypt (now under new radical Islamic management) sending word to Israel "we've got him, release that first batch o' Palestinian freedom fighters!" followed up by, "oops, we forgot to mention that Shalit is no longer alive, sorry about that!"

We could then reciprocate by making the first batch of freedom fighters (well, they do fight against freedom) dead, too.

I think they are crazy.

Releasing 1,000 terrorists for one Israeli that probably is either dead or has Stockholm Syndrome.
