A Fox News Poll unveiled late Thursday revealed that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas held a solid lead over former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
(snip)
When other candidates -- including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani -- were added to the mix, Perry remained in the lead. Both Palin and Giuliani have left the door open to running for the Republican presidential nomination.
Perry led that scenario with 26 percent followed by Romney with 18 percent. Palin took third with 8 percent followed by Paul with 7 percent.
(snip)
When Fox News looked at all voters, they found very little support for a possible Palin presidential campaign. Palin will be stumping in Iowa, which holds the first caucus, and New Hampshire, home of the first presidential primary, over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Only 20 percent of all voters wanted Palin to run for the White House while 74 percent opposed the idea -- and the voters who wanted her staying out of the contest included a large part of her base.
A mere 25 percent of Republicans backed a Palin presidential candidacy while 71 percent were lined up against it. Even among voters who considered themselves part of the tea party movement, Palin flopped. Only 28 percent of the tea party voters supported Palin entering the race while 66 percent opposed it.

So another establishment Politico wannabe pipes up. Too many counting eggs before the chicken house is even built.

Better yet, it is like hoards already posting their bets in a ticketless lottery.
Palin should have jumped in before Perry, could have been her getting the Perry buzz...now if she jumps in she would just help nominate Romney and take votes from Perry and Bachman
I’m not even a Palin supporter and I want her in the race.
I think Palin is getting more buzz than any of the candidates right now. C4P reported that 70 media credentials were issues to 32 news organizations for her speech in Iowa today.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
Sarah can decide on her own, why establishment and Fox news loons are forcing their own opinion on independent citizen.
Meh, it's a long campaign, eventually movement conservatives and Tea Party folks would settle for either Palin, Perry or Bachmann as an alternative to Romney.
Palin does poll extremely badly now, even among Republicans. I don't think she is running and haven't for months, but for whatever reason the things she is doing now seem to be making her even less desirable as a candidate to most Republicans as time passes.
Once again polls as news indicates that the MSM is too lazy to engage in investigative journalism. Fredie and Fanny nothing to see there, Obama's social security number- yawn! - GE the billion dollar stimulus recipient and green power broker - no interest, the global warming con and Al Gore's financial interest - no story. Polls we want polls about events that have not taken place, like how many would like to see the Yankees not compete in the 2015 post season or how many would like to ban cat entrails on their pizza in San Francisco or how many would like to keep little green men from Mars from filling for earned income tax credit.
Most people don't like to be played with, even by Sarah Palin. Since she's been "running" -- will she or won't she -- for the past two years, there is absolutely no reason for her not to have declared that she is officially in the race months ago.
Sarah Palin is Fred Thompson in a skirt, just better looking, more energetic, smarter, but the same tease -- and guess who is going to be left "holding the bag", her supporters who are still waiting and will still be waiting for her to jump into the race Nov 1, 2012.
None whatsoever.
Same media that picked McCain, Dole, and other RINOs. I can’t believe such intelligent people as FREEPERS are falling for it AGAIN.
Irritating isn’t it?
The real title should be, “Rick Perry Leads While Voters on the Sidelines Want Sarah Palin”
So much so. I just want to shake these people. I am really living in the twilight zone for sure.
I suppose they want her to walk ten paces behind as well like a good little aquaw.
Or maybe ten paces ahead strewing rose petals at his cowboy boots.
Do you imagine that Rick Perry and Sarah Palin don’t know each other? If so your are completely wrong! They do!
John Fund got this EXACTLY right yesterday!
