The Fort Hood shooting suspect's religion is not the point (Who saw this coming?)

Nidal Malik Hasan, the suspect in yesterday's Fort Hood shootings that killed 13 and wounded 30, identifies as a Muslim.

Much has and will be made of his religion from people too ignorant to read a Qur'an, or too isolated to talk to a Muslim, or too stubborn to educate themselves. Even the Washington Post calls him a "devout Muslim." But can a "devout Muslim" commit such acts? No more than a "devout Christian" can, no.

The depth of depravity underlying this statement is simply breathtaking.

People like this are probably a greater danger to Western Civilization than the Islamic Swine.

She assumes because she is ignorant, that everyone else must be ignorant too. She assumes that because she has peace and goodness in her heart that everyone else (Let me guess: everyone except Republicans and Israelis?) must have peace and goodness in their hearts too.

I guess maybe she would say that I haven't read the real Koran because I cannot read or understand Arabic assuming that there is no possibility of an adequate translation of it into English. But there are those parts about beheadings, stonings, insignificance of women, and even lesser significance of Christians and Jews; and somehow these parts seem to play out repeatedly in real life. The Kumbayah Krowd never seems to consider real life.

Sure I cannot know what Islamic Swine really think because prudence dictates that I not get close enough to talk to them directly. But I can read their books. I can read believers like Qutb and apostates like Warraq. I wonder if Ms Campbell thinks I can know what Thomas Jefferson thought or what Winston Churchill thought. I never spoke with either of them either. Why read at all. It's just so useless.

There's a reason why we don't find killers shouting "Praise Jesus," or "Shema Yisroel," as they dispense death. Most people who read history know and understand what it is.

She seems afraid if we can find wrong in Islam we can find wrong in Christianity as well. They both lead to dogmatism if not moderated, most “social” groups that have committed major wrongs have done so under the guise of “exceptionalism” or “religion” or a notion of “utopia”. Dogmatists are everywhere and the job of them and their groups are to move “goldman sachs” and the “federal reserve” and the socialist claptrap off the front page, they need nut jobs like this guy to distract people from the real battle against the federal reserve and the religion they practice of fundamentalist materialism throug h metaphysical mumbo jumbo.

The people that are running this society are sociopaths and this man just a tool, while they chemically poison us people focus all their attention on who has the right religious point of view or political beliefs, they also rob us blind and run massive deficits in order to manipulate us all, this guy just bought into the religious mumbo jumbo of Islam. but the elites love it when this stuff happens then they can call for ever more restrictions on “our” freedoms we share and express that they resent and want to take away from us, by their tolerance of these nuts they use them to justify restricting us, that maybe HOW this killer came to be.

“Mein Kampf” was banned in Boston. If Americans were able to read it perhaps, maybe, there would have been a different outcome in our relationship with Germany at the time .....

I absolutely guarantee that Susan Campbell has never read the Koran except in a few select passages that may have been fed to her.

But can a "devout Muslim" commit such acts?

Some add as a sixth pillar to Islam, Jihad, which has two components:
1) it is the battle of self control against temptation and sin
2) it is the battle against any and all who oppose Islam.

It seems that the it will be the most devout ones who will follow the second part of the sixth pillar.

Check this out!: This is her comment:

Thanks, Jan. I have no idea why the man would call out to Allah when he is preparing to massacre people, but I know too many Muslims to be comfortable cherry-picking verses (and yes, to the commentor who called me a fraud and said I hadn't read the Qur'an, I have, in fact, read the Qur'an but enjoy your name-calling, won't you?) and blaming Islam for his madness. I wonder if we'll ever know why.

She has "NO IDEA" why he would call this out and she has the nerve to write this wasn't about religion?!! Talk about missing the logic screw! Well, if you have no idea, why are you writing an article on something you know NOTHING about!

LOL, of COURSE you are correct, and I am ashamed of it.

Being from Massachusetts, I found the opportunity to BASH somewhere ELSE for a change, not that there is anywhere more liberal or bluer than this. But there are conservatives up here (of which I am one) and the country is beautiful. Heck, even Boston is very nice. The gist of which means I HAVE NO ROOM TO TALK!

I keep forgetting how stupid it is to make generalizations like that (because I hate being tarred with the same brush in that fashion myself) but the tone of that article just set me off.

And, I agree...Connecticut is a nice place.

Please accept my apology...:)

Very well put. One author I have read extensively is Bernard Lewis, who has written some GREAT books on Islam. He is considered to be one of the foremost authorities on Islam in the West, and is able to discuss it logically and without emotional baggage. The two books of his I found most informative and interesting is “What Went Wrong?” and “The Crisis of Islam”.

The fact that Noam Chomsky hates him and that Dick Cheney likes him is just icing on the cake.

I sent in a comment on that blog pointing to the excellent American Thinker article here: http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/11/resolving_the_cognitive_disson.html

I also sent in the following comment when the author of this idiotic piece got into the “Bible has bad things in it, too” moral equivalence idiocy:

“Ah, yes, the moral equivalence argument. The Bible has bad stuff in it, too, so Christians and Muslims are really morally equivalent.

The difference is that Christians by and large no longer wage war based on religion. That pretty much ended with the Crusades (which started as a counter-attack against militant Islam, although they became something quite different over time). Some will point to “The Troubles” in the UK, but that was more about politics and thuggery with a vener of Protestant vs Catholic. Also, the participants weren’t citing biblical verses as justification for killing each other.

So how about Islam? Let’s take a look at the major religiously rooted conflicts in the world today: http://www.religioustolerance.org/curr_war.htm

Hmm, one religion is in ALMOST EVERY ONE OF THEM, the sole exception being South Africa involving animists and witches (seriously). Gee, class, can anyone guess which religion? Ah, the Amish! That’s it! (Sarcasm)

But nope, Islam has nothing to do with any of this. Nothing at all.”

Hmm, for some reason, I don’t think she’s going to post my comments. Can’t give exposure to the real facts, now, can we?

Didn’t Adolph Hitler sue some US publisher for printing an unauthorized translation of Mein Kampf with no royalties?

Why do people think that atheism would be any less dangerous? And also why does any faith have any claim on everyone the professes a belief in it? Secular humanism came from religion and look at the millions slaughtered last century? Any system that claims utopia should be greeted with skpeticism the same way we are skeptical of people that say the earth’s flat. It maybe not a “faith” but any “faith” that makes violence against others justifiable to the perp.

I would be curious to know if the guy was shaved from head to toe to complete his mission and get on to the 72 Virgins.

I believe this incident will be spun like a top by the Government and the MSM.

President Bush warned us after 911 that was going to be a long battle ahead of uswith the Terrorists and that the Terrorist had the patience and resources to destroy our Country.

I'm sick over the Ft. Hood incident. I'm sick over a President that can't make a decision on Afghanistan. I'm sick that we have elected Elitists who look at us as peons and try to tell us what is best for us!

President George W. Bush - a man that protected our Country. Called a spade a spade. Loved America. He may have not been the perfect President but he certainly stood tall for America when America needed a President and a man of courage, honor and love of Country the most.

Yup, I noticed that. She’s just another cognitively dissonant liberal. My bet is that she has found herself suddenly “too busy” to check submitted comments. In other words, she hasn’t made a conscious choice on the matter and therefore honestly thinks she is “fair.” That would be a form of denial, a typical response of a person with cognitive dissonance when faced with overwhelming and world-view challenging facts.
