Shares of Cabela's (NYSE: CAB) soared more than 30% last week on record fourth-quarter 2008 results, which were driven by strong firearms sales. According to management, 2009 performance is set to pack less pow, but given a strengthened balance sheet and modest expansion plans, I say Cabela's deserves a closer look.
Before tapping the wisdom of the Motley Fool CAPS investment community, let's take a look at some key stats for the company.

Note to self - buy more ammo.
To: wolfcreek
yep, and every one of them has a paper trail.
buy with cash, don’t buy any gun with a paper trail if you can avoid it.

Good for Cabela’s! A great company and also a fun retail place to visit (I go to the store in Hamburg, Pa., off Rt. 78).

buy with cash, What good does that do? It only puts into question who actually paid for it.
There's paper aplenty when making a legal firearms purchase. Atleast, that's the case here in Massatuskey.

I had never heard of Cabela’s until last month when I did a little online shopping for a good down coat. Mine was stolen in my doctor’s office. Anyway, I found a nice one on their website and I am pleased. If I had guns, I would buy my ammo from them. Looks like a great retail outfit.

cash means no credit/ debit card reciepts or cancelled checks to trace them back.

some states don't require you to raise your hand, ask the government "pretty please" and jump thru a lot of hoops for every purchase you make.
MI law allows me to LEGALLY buy long guns from a private individual with no paperwork. handguns we still have to ask "pretty please" even on private sales. other state don't even require that.
