In Nov/Dec alone, I bought 4 guns from Cabela’s.
Whatta coinkydink. I was at Cabelas today and bought 25 round banana clips for my poor man’s AR15 Ruger 10/22.
Tomorrow I take the NRA pistol safety class.
Any suggestions on a first pistol? Obective: target practice, home defense. Price range: $300-$500
My buddy has a Kimber 1911 with a 22 conversion I like but it’s a little too pricey at this time.
And, yes....I hate this friggin' state.
“Good for Cabelas! A great company and also a fun retail place to visit (I go to the store in Hamburg, Pa., off Rt. 78).”
Absolutely loved the corn bread too!
Glenn Beck show just said that in the month of November, 2008 there were 1,529,635 background checks for weapons. Do the math. You can buy several guns with one background check. Keep in mind that is for the month of Nov. ONLY.
“Looks like a great retail outfit.”
Love their stuff...just wish they’d stop sending me a new catalog every week.
“Any suggestions on a first pistol?”
Glock full frame 9mm
This sign was posted on the ammunition case at my local Wal-Mart today:
“Due to manufacturer shortages, we are experiencing delays in restocking ammunition.”
Rossi .357 six shooter w/4inch barrel. You can practice with 38 special ammo, but clean it after each practice session. Costs roughly $375 new, and will give you confidence and good home defense with .38 special+P hollowpoints. Then get a real gun, a 1911 .45 w/eight round mags.
I’m thinking of the Springfield XD 4” 9mm. What are your thoughts on that model?
With night sights & laser.
I think my mother’s been shopping again.
If you ever get the chance to visit a Cabelas don’t miss the opportunity. I went the the store in Nebraska and its not like anything you’ve ever seen before. AWESOME!
Ruger GP-100 .357 Magnum revolver. I have 2. Built like a tank, ultra reliable, easy for the wife to use, accurate and great fun to shoot. Plus you can shoot cheap, plentiful and low recoil .38 Special ammo in it for practice. Great home defense gun.
Very good gun. I personally don't care for the grip safety. The Glocks have been around longer, a lot more in circulation. I
Glocks don't look as sexy.

Hard to go wrong with either!
As for buying firearms with cash, it doesn't really make a difference. In the People's Republic of New Jersey, you can only buy a long gun or shotgun if you have a Firearms Purchaser Identification card (FID). It involves fingerprinting, background check, and references. They also want to know who your employer is. It sometimes takes up to 6 mos to receive it, depending upon how motivated your local P.D. is. For handguns, you must get a Permit to Purchase a Handgun. It is a form of registering it. Forms come in quadruplicate for the owner, seller,Chief of Police of the resident applicant, and State Police. You apply for it, only if you have a FID, and even that can take a millenium, depending upon how motivated the PD is. If you lose your FID, or change address, and ask for a duplicate, to receive the duplicate; they run the whole background check again, and, in cases of change of address, they take your old card. Hence, you cannot purchase firearms in NJ until the duplicate is received. (Really Constitutional, huh??) How's all that for a paper trail? I strongly suggest all gun owners on this forum check out the NJ State Police's website: www.njsp.org , then look at the firearms' laws section. You will be astonished at how prohibitive, and restrictive it is, compared to other states.
Note to self: Never, EVER, live in NJ!
Look at the line of CZ.
Dollar for dollar, they cannot be beat IMO.
Extemely accurate and reliable.
Look at the CZ 75B, and the CZ RAMI.
The conversion kits for the CZ and the Kimber cost more than a nice Riger Mark III. Call me crazy, but I would rather have a brand new gun (and a nice one at that) than a conversion kit.
Absolutely no way to justify the expense IMO.
