Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

I agree, this has the prints of AQ all over it. I remember the attacks in Spain, Spanish media were saying it was ETA at first, when it was obvious it was AQ then too. They finally came around and said AQ. And soon we’ll find out it was AQ in India as well.

And now, hostages. NDTV is saying at both hotels, the Taj and the Trident. Commando forces have been sent in to smoke them out. Unfortunately, hostages, too, will die in the rescue.

I wonder if it has any connection with the Bali bombers, who were recently executed. It would have been planned long before their execution, but maybe that was the go-ahead moment?
India has a good dynamic raid capability. Those assets and support apparatus may be stretched thin depending how many target locations they have to take down. I hope the perps haven’t wired and rigged the rooms they are holding (small arms and grenades are enough of a nightmare when busting in on hostage takers)

I’m thinking that any direct SWAT type action against the terrorists has been figured in their plans.
You don’t orchestrate something on this scale only to have the police come in and shoot it out with you. I’m afraid there may be something bigger afoot, and this is just the prelude.
