The Pakistan Navy has rebuked reports that it is acquiring an over 30-year old guided missile frigate from the United States for a whopping 64.77 million dollars, saying Pakistan would be getting the warship free of cost. A Pakistan Navy spokesman said that the transfer of USS McInerney, a Oliver Perry class frigate, is being done under the Foreign Military Funding, according to which Pakistan would ‘not have to pay a single dollar for the frigate.’ The naval frigate will be handed over to Pakistan on August 31 following which it would be refurbished according to the Pakistan Navy’s requirements...

Pakistan is scheduled to get 18 of the Block 52 F-16 fighter aircraft and Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigate from the US by fall, and is expected to receive Shadow Drones within a year, a Pentagon official has said. After showing its firepower by testing a host of missiles in the Arabian Sea last week, Pakistan has test fired another missile. The surface-to-air missile was test fired from Pak Navy’s guided missile destroyer on Tuesday “which scored a direct hit,” the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan said quoting a Navy press release. The Navy termed its anti-air warfare capability as another manifestation of its offensive punch. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified US Congress on 18 February of a possible foreign military sale (FMS) to Pakistan for refurbishment of a Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate for a total contract value of approximately $78 million (€57.47 million). As the DSCA announced, the Government of Pakistan has requested support for refurbishment of USS McInerney (FFG-8), the second ship of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class of US guided-missile frigates, being provided as excess defence articles (EDA). Azam Amir, the terrorist who was held by the Mumbai Police, has made some striking revelations regarding the Mumbai terror attacks. Azam has disclosed that the Pakistan Navy had trained the terrorists in boating and swimming to carry out the attacks in Mumbai.
