Christians staying away from a movie that wants to "Kill God in the minds of children" isn't the only challenge facing the new film Golden Compass. The critics just don't like it.

In some cases I would agree with you, but in this case, I appreciated the Catholic League’s notice. I wouldn’t have known to avoid the pic with my two small kids otherwise. We may well have gone to see it. No chance of it now. “Enchanted” looks good for a holiday movie treat.

I just saw the trailer to Caspian, oh my goodness....just the cgi effects I saw seemed to blow golden compass out of the water. Then there was that familiar tickle in my spirit as I saw it....the same tickle I get any time I read any of CS Lewis’s books!(”ahhh so it was You all the time....”)
I wonder if there will be a 3D version?

I really enjoyed “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” It started slow and then built. At first I thought I would be bored . . .
I think that’s C.S. Lewis’ writing style, start slowly, get the characters in place, and then end with a bang.

I know that the trailers for this movie look bad. I wouldnt waste my money seeing it.
Exactly. The film isn't really anti-religion, especially at anywhere near the hysteria some have assumed.
However, just one viewing of the trailer (ideally the best parts put together in an appealing manner) and I can't see why anyone would want to watch it, regardless of any sort of belief system. I could barely make it through the dreadful trailer, no way I'm sitting through it in a theater.

Depressing. But it might discourage further productions of this creep’s writings.

But the ads say that it is among the best fantasy films of ALL TIME. Ads don’t lie, do they? It’s not like the days when Sony Pictures was paying for the quotes...

3d would be nice, but as Christian, an avid fan of his work, and a regular roleplayer, my key question is:
WHERE IS THE NARNIA RPG?
I mean, seriously. The world is fascinating, and you can convert anything to the current version of Wizards of the Coast's d20 system easily. This would be a great project for someone with a little capital - if anyone decides to run with it, please sign me up for design detail. nothing captures the attention of today's youth like a roleplaying game. It isn't a fringe pastime anymore.

The public schools have been doing a good job of that for decades.

The characters in the tv ad say things about learning the “truth” that “they” don’t want you to know. “See things as they really are...”.

If you never have, get the collection. You can get all of them in one volume for 15 bucks at any B&N or Borders.

"it dares to ask serious questions about good and evil, free will and adolescent sexuality."I haven't seen the movie, but I plan to. But in the 1st book, The Golden Compass, there is NO adolescent sexuality. What a crock review.

Accounting is a funny thing in Hollywood. They will tank your film for spite and insure the bottom line of a protected filmmaker by writing off the loss against a smaller film.
Batman didn’t show a profit (the screenwriter was in for points of the profit) even after it took in $500,000 but it was succesful enough for them to authorize several more sequels based on the non-success of that first film.

Tabletop or computer-based Narnia RPG? Tabletop RPG’s are so much more fun - in fact, I’m not 100% sure one doesn’t exist already. Heck, the local gaming store even has an Evil Dead-based RPG, so I’m sure you can find a Narnia-related one somewhere...

When I saw the trailers I wanted to see the movie. When I heard about the idiot who wrote the story, I decided not to.
Hope he looses his shirt.
He's already cashed that check. And well before the film was shot. The checks may cease to continue though.
