  • Rotten Tomatoes wants you to think The Little Mermaid remake earned a near-perfect audience score

    05/30/2023 7:39:06 AM PDT · by aperez77 · 53 replies
Critics have clearly responded to the movie with a collective “meh,” since that 67% score above is just a few percentage points away from the site’s “rotten” designation that starts at 59%. However, take a look at that near-perfect audience score. Quite a lopsided response here, don’t you think? The audience score is a very stellar 95%, based on more than 2,500 verified audience ratings (and that “verified” designation is important, which is why we’ll come back to it in just a moment).
  • Woke ‘Little Mermaid’ Reboot Completely Bombs in Reviews, IMBD Blames Online Trolls, Manipulates Votes to Give Higher Audience Score!

The woke ‘Little Mermaid’ reboot completely bombed in reviews this weekend. Disney’s live-action take on The Little Mermaid reportedly brought in $95.5 million globally in its three-day opening, according to Deadline. However, the woke movie completely bombed in reviews – the bulk of the negative reviews were from overseas movie goers. Critics blamed murky lighting and woke lyrics. IMBD, Rotten Tomatoes and other online review-aggregation websites claimed online trolls are driving the bad reviews. The bad reviews were actually tossed out in order to raise the final audience scores! For example, IMBD said it published the “weighted vote averages” because...
  • Rotten Tomatoes Mulls Further Tightening User Guidelines to Combat Trolls

On Feb. 26 — amid a deluge of negative posts about the female-led Captain Marvel — Rotten Tomatoes said it would no longer let users say whether they want to see a movie until it begins playing in theaters. Online trolls exacted their revenge by flooding the website with thousands of audience reviews trashing the superhero pic once it opened March 8. But the play didn't work. Captain Marvel is a blockbuster, opening to $154.3 million domestically and more than $455 million globally over the March 8-10 weekend, the sixth-biggest launch of all time. And by Tuesday, it was zooming...
  • Why Trolls Are Already Trashing 'Captain Marvel' on Rotten Tomatoes Before Even Seeing It

[snip] Trolls have already begun trashing "Captain Marvel," dropping it's rating to 63 percent before anyone has even seen it. At least part of the online vitriol seems to stem from fans misunderstanding "Marvel" star Brie Larson's call for more inclusivity during press tours into an attack on white men overall. [snip] Below are just a few examples of the kinds of comments that are dropping her RT scores and note that virtually none of these have anything to do with the content of the film, which is the point of the site. Instead they are largely attacks on Larson...
  • Holmes and Watson Is Causing Theater Walkouts Across the Country

Holmes & Watson is the rare kind of bad movie that is actually causing moviegoers to leave before it's even finished. Much has already been made of the latest team-up between Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Unfortunately, this wasn't the spiritual successor to Step Brothers that many had been hoping for. Instead, we seem to have a candidate for worst movie of the year, if public opinion is to be believed and now, there are quite a few people taking to Twitter to reveal that they, and others, have been walking out of showings. Going to the movies is...
  • Lady Gaga Fans Accused of Writing Fake ‘Venom’ Reviews to Support ‘A Star Is Born’

A feud is born. On Oct. 5, two films will premiere: Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” and Tom Hardy’s “Venom.” Despite the fact that “A Star Is Born” has already drummed up significant hype, garnering a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and awards buzz, Gaga’s fan base is apparently taking it upon themselves to make sure the movie gets as much opening day attention as “Venom.” Once the social media embargo for “Venom” broke following the superhero movie’s red carpet premiere on Monday night, some Twitter users noticed negative reviews floating around Twitter — but it...

Marvel Studio News has reported that Facebook has banned a group that attempted to sabotage the fan review scores of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and also promised to do the same thing to Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther. The group’s Facebook page was named “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys,” and it had created an event to post low review scores on the fan review section of the Rotten Tomatoes website. The exact motivations of the group aren’t completely clear, though some trends and theories have cropped up during the course of its actions. According to a...

Well, it's hard to say anyone saw this coming. Star Wars: The Last Jedi has finally arrived in theaters and fans are super excited about it. Or, at least they were. There was a ton of hype leading up to the release and, deservedly so, considering all of the questions Star Wars fans had after watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens two years ago. However, things are not going according to plan, as The Last Jedi now has a shockingly low audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. How low? Believe it or not, it's even lower than the score Justice League...
  • Hollywood’s box office failures go beyond Rotten Tomatoes ratings

"Blade Runner 2049” was supposed to be a hit. The film, one of the most anticipated of the year, seemed to have all the necessary ingredients with two popular leading men and an original that has gained cult status since its release in 1982. But it has not been the box office hit the industry hoped for, despite being showered with rave reviews. Studios blamed the dismal box office performance of a number of big-budget blockbuster films this summer on negative reviews from critics and Rotten Tomatoes. The film review aggregator, owned by Comcast Corp.-owned CMCSA, +0.87% Fandango, has been...

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Israeli officials will discuss on Monday Egypt's political upheaval, Iran's nuclear program and the stymied Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Making her first trip to Israel in 22 months, and only her fourth visit as secretary of state, Clinton's talks will focus first and foremost on the political transition in Egypt, where the Islamist President Mohamed Mursi took office two weeks ago. The downfall of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak last year has raised questions among Israelis about whether Egypt, the first Arab nation to have made peace with Israel, will adhere to that treaty...

CAIRO (Reuters) - Protesters threw tomatoes and shoes at U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's motorcade on Sunday during her first visit to Egypt since the election of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi. A tomato struck an Egyptian official in the face, and shoes and a water bottle landed near the armoured cars carrying Clinton's delegation in the port city of Alexandria. A senior state department official said that neither Clinton nor her vehicle, which were around the corner from the incident, were struck by any of the projectiles. Protesters chanted: "Monica, Monica", a reference to Former President Bill Clinton's extra-marital...

US SECRETARY of State Hillary Clinton has been taunted by chants of "Monica, Monica" by tomato-throwing demonstrators as she visited the Egyptian port city of Alexandria. The chants, referring to the Monica Lewinsky scandal when her husband, Bill Clinton, was president, were heard outside the US consulate as she visited for its reopening. An embarrassed Egyptian security official said they were chanting "Monica, Monica" and "Irhal, Clinton" (Get out, Clinton.) Tomatoes, shoes and a water bottle were thrown at part of Mrs Clinton's motorcade as it pulled up, protected by riot police, although a US official said Mrs Clinton's...

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that the United States and Israel are now on the same page regarding Iran. "It's absolutely fair to say that we are on the same page at this moment trying to figure our way forward to have the maximum impact on affecting the decisions that Iran makes," Clinton said during a press conference in Jerusalem. Clinton said that the proposals Iran has made on its nuclear program in the P5+1 talks were "non-starters." She said that Iran is under more pressure than ever before, and that the U.S. would prefer a diplomatic...

Biden to 'dull as hell' fundraiser crowd: 'Pretend you like me' By Justin Sink - 04/27/12 12:38 PM ET Vice President Biden ordered supporters to "pretend you like me" after mocking them as "dull as hell" at a campaign fundraiser in Washington on Friday. The vice president was speaking to Turkish and Azerbaijani donors about the potential of the region as a democratic and economic force when he noticed he wasn't getting much of a reception. “I guess what I’m trying to say without boring you too long at breakfast – and you all look dull as hell, I might...

Movie critics are, by definition, folks with strong opinions about movies. But opinions are personal and subjective, so usually critical response to any movie is split between the positive and the negative. Still, there are a few extraordinary films every year that unite reviewers. When they all uniformly praise a movie, it's probably close to a masterpiece. When they all hate a flick, it probably stinks worse than week-old Limburger. RottenTomatoes.com, which aggregates the opinions of over 100 professional movie critics and distills them down to a single numeric "freshness" rating, has compiled the "Worst of the Worst," a list...

Veteran reporter and talk radio host Andrea Shea King reported this weekend at her blog, The Radio Patriot that a close friend of the Reagan family has contradicted the claim by the Obama administration-in-waiting that President-elect Obama had a "warm conversation" with former First Lady Nancy Reagan when he called her to apologize for insulting her at a press conference Friday afternoon.Responding to a question by Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times about whether he had consulted with "any living ex-presidents", Obama replied:"In terms of speaking to former presidents, I've spoken to all of them that are living. Obviously, President...

Christians staying away from a movie that wants to "Kill God in the minds of children" isn't the only challenge facing the new film Golden Compass. The critics just don't like it.
