What does "Ping" mean?

I'm gonna cool it too, LM. I've been poking at this guy ever since he gave firebrand, Doctor Raoul, and Mr. Silverback a hard time for pinging him on that NYT activism thread.

I always catch the backs of my road-dogs, and Solamente made me just want to PING him to PIECES for that little crabfest of his.

But it's out of my system. Point's made. I'll lay off too.
