HOLLYWOOD - The Sopranos star James Gandolfini has volunteered to help President George W. Bush end the war in Iraq by traveling to the Middle East and fighting himself.

The star concedes he isn't in the best shape to go into battle, but will doanything he can to help.

Urging Bush to "reinstate the draft, send 500,000 troops and finish it," Gandolfini, 44, adds, "I'd go, I'm too old and fat, but I'd drive a truck.

"The American people haven't had to sacrifice anything."

"The American people haven't had to sacrifice anything."

Other than our way of life before 11 Sept 2001.

Pretty big talk from a Hollywood multi-millionaire. Plenty of American families have sacrificed ALL THEY HAD since 9.11.

No, I think he has a point.

It's important for society to participate in our wars - at home and the military. During WWII we had bond drives and ration cards, victory gardens, etc..

I think these are very very important, regardless of their actual value to the war effort.

I think it's a mistake to not include things like this in the WOT.

Wow... I knew "Paulie Walnuts" (his real name escapes me) supported Dubya, but I thought I had read that Gandolfini was a 'RAT. I know for sure Edie Falco is a 'RAT, unfortunately...

Aren't you being kind of harsh? I like this quote from him. Finally someone - from Hollywood - is injecting a little personal responsibility into the equation. Advocating superior force to achieve the objective vs whining about 'shameful' US troop activities - Abu Ghraib, collateral deaths, etc - its refreshing to me!

Send 500,000 goodfellas over there - Bada-Bing!

Dear Mr. Gandolfini:

If you click on THIS LINK, you will find jobs being offered in Iraq, by KBR (a subsidiary of Halliburton).

Upon first inspection, I don't see "truck driver", but I do see "bus driver". There are many jobs of varying qualification levels. As I myself am mulling over what I can do to help, I occasionally check this site.

Perhaps I will see you over there. If you bring NYC bagels, I'll bring some California wine. Deal?

At least he supports the war effort which is more than most other Hollywood types would do.

500,000 'goodfellas' killing is not that far from what i think needs to be done with muslims. back to your point, he's to old to be drafted(promotes the draft).
