I'm never going to be convinced that we attacked the right side in that conflict.
----yep--more of the legacy of Slick Willie--
As opposed to: "Why are there people still ignorant enough to fall for this Serbian crap?"
Count the number of troops we've lost in the Balkans then get back to me on that one, m'kay?
Kosovo was the crowning jewel of Wesley Clark the Great, because of it he thought he should've been POTUS a la Dwight Einsenhower.
Wasn't that the war in which the Three Stooges (Clinton, Allbright and Clark)bombed the Chinese embassy?
RE: Count the number of troops we've lost in the Balkans.
Of course, the body count and casualty totals. What else is there? What better yardstick by which to evaluate -- no, excuse me -- what better pedestal, upon which to elevate and uplift the moral compass?
It may not have quite measured up to the immortal triumph of General Lothar Von Trotha, in the glorious victory over the indigenous African tribesmen:

But for a duplicitous, immoral, neo-colonialist triumph, the Balkan "victory" certainly carries with it much the same olfactory redolence, and splendid bouquet.
When Osama has ordered his followers to attack us wherever they find us?
Nothing but Serbian BS, that's what.
1. Washington intervened militarily on the side of the Muslims in 1999. Quite willingly, I might add. If Washington saw it fit to intervene on behalf of the Muslims, why not reign them in now and help the Christians?
2. Today's Kosovo is a Muslim-run apartheid hellhole. "Kosovans" do not exist. You have the Albanians (Muslims) on the one hand, and the Serbs & minorities (Christians & Jews) on the other. Muslim terror has gone on uninterrupted since the summer of 1999, culminating in March '04 when scores of churches and monasteries were "spontaneously" burnt to the ground and 1000s of non-Muslims (mostly innocent Serbian civilians) forced to run for their lives.
Hmmm, prior to 1999, X42i, Mr. Clinton, brokered his special brand of peace for the area, giving a 'safe' space to the 'poor' Muslim 'minority', ignoring other ethnic and religious groups in the area, even as they were attacked by the Muslims. While so many of us screamed 'nooooooo', and fretted that it would become a war zone with aggressions perpetrated by that 'minority', he used his ever-slick words to assuage the fears of the sheeple.
Now flash forward, it's a hotbed for Islamo-terrorists types, driving Christian and Jew from the area (hey? that 'violates' the treaty...) and somehow it'll end up being Bush's fault.
Serbia regained Kosovo after 400 years of Turkish/Muslim occupation; the Balkan Wars (1912-1913). Ever since 1913 the Albanians have been accusing Serbia of "stealing their land." In WWI, they were allies of Austria & Germany committing unspeakable atrocities against the Serbs. Then came WWII - they allied with the Nazis and Italian Fascists, again committing countless atrocities against the Serbs.
After WWII, the Communists took over and basically allowed the terror to go on, while legally banning the Serbs from going back to their homes and farms (the refugees as well as those Serbs who joined the fight against the Nazis were forbidden to return to Kosovo under "Resolution 355"). That was not enough, so the Communists gave the Albanians autonomy in 1974. The terror, this time institutionalized, continued. The NY Times published a bunch of articles in the late 70s and 80s documenting Albanian atrocities.
The 90s saw another decade of atrocities, attacks on non-Albanian civilians, terrorist attacks on cops, soldiers, state employees, etc.
That's it in a nutshell.
Thanks for putting that together. I know very little about that part of the world and am always interested in learning more history.
What little I do know, apparently, gave me an incorrect impression. I know from some WWII documentaries that some of the Nazi concentration camps had Serbian guards whose brutality, apparently, was legendary. Many of the survivors of Bergen-Belsen(?) never forgot the Serbs who served the Nazis as camp guards.
I know that there has been a great deal of tension between the Serbs and Albanians but, I evidentally fell asleep around the time that Albania disappeared off the map and wasn't aware of what was actually going on.
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to enlighten me.
You have to be mistaking the Serbs for others. What particular documentaries are you talking about?
Serbs were not guards - Serbs were inmates. Hitler hated the Serbs and bombed (beginning April 1941) and invaded Serbia. Historical fact. The Germans shot and hung Serbs. They executed thousands of Serbian school boys in Kragujevac "The Kragujevac Massacre" because Serb rebels were killing German soldiers. The Germans made a rule to kill 100 Serbs for every German soldier killed.
The Serbs were also put in concentration camps in Croatia - one infamous one called Jasenovac. The Serbs fought the Germans, after Germany invaded Serbia, in both WWI and WWII, while the non-Serbs cooperated with the Germans.
Sorry, pal, I've seen the documentaries that have specifically identified Serbian guards WITH their ID papers.
There's no mistake.
Can you name the documentaries and give the names of these guards then - or where they can be found?
Belgrade 41: Hitler's Invasion of Serbia, 65 Years Later
Pancevo cemetery, April 22-23, 1941: Vojvodina Serbian civilians hanged in the Pancevo cemetery by German occupation troops.
Serbian civilians and insurgents hanged in Pancevo, Vojvodina on June 21-22, 1942 by German occupation forces.
Please provide the names of the Serb guards you claim were ID'd in documenaries?
