My mother-in-law with dementia (who lives with us) already thinks she's 1000. But she hasn't been able to remember her name for the past 930 years.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Why would anyone want to live 1,000 years?

Because dying is generally painful and unpleasant.

I wouldn't want to live to 1,000 but I would like to see how bad our country will be in about 50 years.

Call me an optimist.

Why would anyone want to live 1,000 years?

It all depends on whether or not I could maintain my svelte form.

Want to live to be 1,000?

Only if you have a billion dollars socked away for 940 more years of medical treatment.

The guarantee that I'll be out of here in 50 years has enabled me to not stress about our country's future :) Now I gotta start worrying about it.
