Heres a plan for 2008. Suppose a Democrat wins a close presidential election. But the House and Senate are still very likely to remain in Republican hands. The GOP could then challenge the electoral vote certification, just like the Democrats did this year. The Republican majorities in the House and Senate could then decertify the electoral votes of narrowly-won blue states (theyd certainly have more grounds for claiming fraud than the Democrats did this year.) A Republican president would thus be elected.
Why not? As theyve demonstrated in 2004, Democrats would certainly do all of the above if they had a chance. The GOP should not hold back either.
UPDATE: Imagine: The House and Senate are controlled by Democrats. A Republican wins the presidency by a few hundred votes in a few states. Is there any doubt that the Democrats would cry fraud and overturn the results?
In fact, even with Bushs six-figure margin of victory in Ohio, one Democrat senator and 31 Democrat House members voted to decertify Ohios electoral votes and disenfranchise 62 million Bush voters. And grassroots Democrats, like this guy, actually thought through how the Democrat Senate majority could stop Bush from being inaugurated by filibustering the electoral vote certification!
For the GOP to execute the maneuver Ive suggested, it would take a great deal of preparation. The lying liberal media would be against us every step of the way. So we would have to lay the groundwork before the election by documenting cases of fraud in Democrat strongholds in swing states. Graphic evidence would be essential - photographs of Republican voters standing in long lines, tallies of fraudulent ballots cast by dead people and dogs, etc. A well-oiled PR machne must be ready to make the case immediately after the election that the Democrat winner is illegitimate. Thousands of lawyers would challenge the results in various state courts, exposing the frauds wrought by big-city Democrat machines. If executed correctly, the GOPers in the House and Senate could look like heroes for overturning a fraudulent election.
RATS must never be trusted to have power.
How do we turn the Dems into the Whig party.
'08? Cripes, GW hasn't even been sworn in yet... give it a few more weeks at least!
I can't agree with this. If this were to occur, there wouldn't be 150 Republicans in the House in 2010.
Just like if any Dems outside the very safest seats had voted for this challenge they would lose in '06. But they are from the districts that would probably elect Stalin to Congress, so they don't care.
And also, why are we making plans to lose the vote?
The Dims are acting like fools and are destroying themselves in the process. Let them continue. I'd love to see Dims try to fillibuster in the Senate now against the electors. It would be a perpetual Christmas morning!
This would be the end of the Constitution if we did this. If the Rats did it, same result, but then we'd be justified in terminating them.
The Michael Moore fans have taken control of the RATS. with each gaffe they make, we gain swing voters.
It won't come to this. There will be a civil war in this country before 2008, at the rate things are going, and the Red State voters own most of the firearms, as well as most veterans being conservatives. It isn't going to be pretty, but I think I know who will win.
The rep party is not a church. It should be big tent and include different views.
Boxer crying on the senate floor is priceless.
Not to mention cajones.
Ain't gonna happen.
This plan already assumes Republicans are going to lose in 2008.
Sorry .. don't buy this!!
UPDATE: Most of the stuff people worry about never happens.
The rep party is not a church. It should be big tent and include different views. Well, I didn't say that. I would submit that christians represent a far larger margin of the republican vote than the margin needed to defeat the democrats in a presidential election. With christians gone, republicans won't have a chance. |
Cripes ? Are you in canada?
