China unearths ancient Caucasian tombs

BEIJING: Chinese archaeologists have started unearthing hundreds of tombs in an arid north-western region once home to a mysterious civilization that most likely was Caucasian, state media said Sunday.
The researchers have begun work at Xiaohe, near the Lop Nur desert in Xinjiang region, where an estimated 1000 tombs await excavation, according to Xinhua news agency.
Their findings could help shed light on one of the greatest current archaeological riddles and answer the question of how this isolated culture ended up thousands of kilometres from the nearest Caucasian community.
The tombs, thought by some to be 4000 years old, were first discovered in 1934 by a Swedish explorer, but virtually no work was done on them over the next more than six decades.
In 2003, a Chinese team started digging in the area, finding 33 tombs and nearly 1000 relics, but had to stop because of a severe storm, Xinhua said.

I'll say it again, "I'll be the least suprised when the tomb of the first emperor of China is opened and a tall, red-headed guy is found."

The lost Tribe of Israel?
Too early. The lost Tribes were exiled only about 2700 years ago.
Possibly related to the Ainu(sp) people?
Cool(ie).
Thanks for your articles. Always interesting.
Janet Reno is Chinese?...well, it does sort of make sense now that I think of it.
Yet Ironicly, the highest concentration of Ainu was in the Samauri rulers.

Why isn't the National Association for the Advancement of Caucasion People protesting the disturbance of these Sacred Caucasion relics?
Are these the red haireds that may have been related to the Nevada redheads the Paiutes accused of cannibalism, and finally wiped out?
Or is this a different set of Caucassians?
The Idea is not foreign to me. I have some 'far-out-ideas' that all these people may be from Sundaland in Southeast Asia.
It could be Kushan. They had a large empire in what is now Western China. I also heard of Whites in China too. Really interesting. I know Ainu people are related to Whites. They found possible Ainu remains in America. Like in the 19th century, it was thought Koreans and Ainu were related. Koreans and Ainus are not related. Koreans originally came from Central Asia, likely where China, Mongolia, and Russia meet. The Altai Mountains, hence Altaic stock. Koreans are related to Mongols, Turks, Finnish, and Hungarians. I heard there are red haired and light skinned primtive tribes in South America. I know they have found Roman ships off the coast of Brazil.
Yup. I have all the books on the subject. Elizabeth Barber (The Mummies Of Urumchi), states that the fabrics discovered with these mummies are exactly like those found in the Celtic site at Halstadt, Austria...4-5,000 miles and 1,000 years apart. Professor Victor Mair (The Tarim Mummies), is baffled by this connection as there are on archaeological or linguistic traces in the areas between to two sites.
It can be explained if the same people originated from the same place (Southeast Asia) with the China mummies hiking and the Halstadt people sailing...The Tarim mummies spoke Tocharian (an obsolete language) that is most closely related to ancient Celtic.
"Or is this a different set of Caucasians?
You're talking about the Si-Te-Cah. I'm beginning to think they are all related and originally from the same place, Sundaland.
Fascinating! Nova ran a special more than a year ago on Caucasian mummies found in China...maybe Mongolia. I wonder if this latest find is connected?
