Rep. Ron Lewis, Kentucky Republican, has just introduced a bill to allow congressional override of Supreme Court decisions. Trying to curb the Supreme Court's power is about as hopeless as the fate of Sisyphus doomed for eternity to roll up a steep hill a huge stone that tumbles back down when he reaches the top. Then the whole process starts once more. Will Mr. Lewis be a modern Sisyphus?

Great, give the left another tool that they can turn on us when they get back in power. I think that sometimes those in congress do not quite think things thru before they propose them.
Great post. Time to reign them in!
Time to take stock, learn from history, and design a new system: based on, but different, from the old.
Of course, you'll have to win agreement, one way or another, from all those who feed off the destruction of the current system.
Good luck...
Well, I don't think the founders ever believed that the system would last as long as it did.
Also, I don't think they could have expected the nation's elites to complete reject the judeo-christian world view the nation was founded on...
Yep. The Constitution & Bill of Rights lasted suprisingly long, but are now deceased. As Barney (Simpson's) once said: "Don't cry for me, because I'm already dead". Oh well, hello police state.
Impeach and convict a couple of Supremes for violating their oath of office for not upholding the constitution. But, trying to pass a law to override a branch of the government in itself is unconstitutional
The anarchist-socialists on the left (Marxists all) have been pushing for just that for 80+ years. Looks like the institutions of marriage and church have been successfully knocked down. Parents are so fed up with public schools that many have gone to home schooling.
I won't let them hijack my country.
Congress has the authority to limit the number of circuit courts. Congress has the authority to disband all the circuit courts. Indeed, Congress has the authority to surrender all jurisdiction except for that which is the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to the states and then to limit the ability of the Supreme Court to have appellate jurisdiction over anything decided in the states.
The Circuit Courts are entirely a creature of congressional legislation. The Supreme Court's appellate jurisdiction exists entirely at the discretion of the Congress.
The Mutual Assured Destruction idea has (fortunately) held sway so far. For the most part, members of both parties in Congress they know that it is preferable to have a Supreme Court that sometimes makes decisions they don't like to having the supreme laws of the land change every two years, depending on which party controls Congress.
Last week I saw John McCain on television referring to our Judeo-Christian (long pause)-Muslim tradition. Can you believe it? First time I ever heard that phrase.
