New Mexico prosecutors have announced they are filing new charges against Alec Baldwin after new evidence has emerged against the embattled Hollywood star.
Baldwin will be recharged over the shooting incident that claimed the life of a cinematographer on the set of his “Rust” movie, special prosecutor Kari Morrissey said.
Morrissey revealed that the charges against Baldwin would be brought before a Santa Fe grand jury in November.
The accidental shooting killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
Baldwin was holding the gun when the fatal shot was fired.
However, he has claimed numerous times that he did not pull the trigger.
Prosecutors have now revealed that an independent forensic investigation has found that Baldwin must have pulled the trigger on the revolver to fire the lethal shot.
The probe found that the gun couldn’t have fired without Baldwin pulling the trigger.
In a statement about the new charges, prosecutors said:
“After extensive investigation over the past several months, additional facts have come to light that we believe show Mr. Baldwin has criminal culpability in the death of Halyna Hutchins and the shooting of Joel Souza.
“We believe the appropriate course of action is to permit a panel of New Mexico citizens to determine from here whether Mr. Baldwin should be held over for criminal trial.”
Attorneys for Baldwin responded with a brief statement.
“It is unfortunate that a terrible tragedy has been turned into this misguided prosecution,” the statement said.
“We will answer any charges in court.”
The actor had been previously charged with involuntary manslaughter.
However, that charge was dropped in April, as Slay News reported at the time.
The movie’s weapons handler Hannah Gutierrez is facing trial in 2024.
In October last year, Baldwin and the movie’s producers settled a wrongful death lawsuit with the family of Halyna Hutchins.
They went on to finish filming the movie in May.
The initiation showers with Ol' Rumpleforeskin will be uncomfortable, though.
I think it takes a real bunch of Hollowoody dumbasses to allow live ammunition into a place where idiots are aiming guns at one another and pulling the triggers. But that’s just me.
Yup....someone lied...they said the gun had been tampered with (modified)...and they have now proven that false.
Everyone in the media is aghast, they don’t want Alex punished. Like Tony Dickopil said on CBS this morning, prosecuting him want bring the girl back.
Two years for the NM State Police to finish their investigation?
Were they waiting for a retirement before they closed the “investigation”?
She could have insisted Alec Baldwin practice the scene with a blue safety gun.
She could have insisted Alec Baldwin practice the scene with a prop gun instead of a real one.
She could have directed Alec Baldwin to point the gun in a safe direction instead of directly at her.
She could have insisted on ballistic shields for safety.
She could have worn a bullet-proof vest and helmet.
But...
Maybe this was Suicide by Baldwin?
Doesn’t change the fact he pulled the trigger and killed her, but that’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Otherwise who the hell allowed live ammo to be loaded into that gun?
If Baldwin was rehearsing a gun-to-the-head suicide scene he probably would have checked the weapon.
It’s possible that it was so traumatic when it happened he seriously has no memory of pulling the trigger. I really don’t think that he was intending to murder his friend. If someone was going to murder someone they wouldn’t do it in front of everyone and the camera was probably rolling. Total setup or someone, the girl in charge of the props maybe, had not checked the prop gun.
I know, he was supposed to look in the gun himself and he didn’t but that doesn’t mean he is a murderer. He is very much in trouble but I think it’s very likely he does not remember pulling the trigger.
It was a real gun, not a prop.
The set armorer did not check the weapon and clear it for set use AFTER some of the crew had loaded real ammo and fired it at some cans and bottles off the set. There was still a real round in the weapon, which Baldwin assumed was unloaded and safety checked........................
Yes. I know all this.
If only people who didn’t intend harm, perhaps by strolling through a door that was opened for them, got leniency because of a lack of intent.
Hollywood’s own Yosemite Sam II rides again.
Is this recharge on Alex Balwin a way to keep our eyes off the failing Biden administration? OJ Simpson 2.

Baldwin has had great legal representation, and they were able to get the charges dismissed "without predjudice" since the FBI forensics team had "broken" the pistol's firing mechanism during their testing, which also showed that the Pistol was in regular order. But the DA submitted the pistol to their indepented experts, who have not verified the FBI crime lab's findings that the pistol could not have been fired without the trigger having been pressed.
Baldwin has basically admitted that he knew that it was a real gun, that he didn't check it, and has claimed, improbably, that he didn't "pull the trigger". That obvious lie has now been disproven, and he's obviously guilty. Chances are he'll serve no time in some sort of plea deal, but at least there's some semblance of reality being applied, finally. Anyone else would have been convicted long ago.
Halyna Hutchins, another person killed who made a documentary about human trafficking in hollywood and was near release.
that doesn’t mean he is a murderer.
He's never been charged with murder, and won't be.
