She could have insisted Alec Baldwin practice the scene with a prop gun instead of a real one.
She could have directed Alec Baldwin to point the gun in a safe direction instead of directly at her.
She could have insisted on ballistic shields for safety.
She could have worn a bullet-proof vest and helmet.

If Baldwin was rehearsing a gun-to-the-head suicide scene he probably would have checked the weapon.
It’s possible that it was so traumatic when it happened he seriously has no memory of pulling the trigger. I really don’t think that he was intending to murder his friend. If someone was going to murder someone they wouldn’t do it in front of everyone and the camera was probably rolling. Total setup or someone, the girl in charge of the props maybe, had not checked the prop gun.
I know, he was supposed to look in the gun himself and he didn’t but that doesn’t mean he is a murderer. He is very much in trouble but I think it’s very likely he does not remember pulling the trigger.

Yes. When some incompetent fool gets someone else killed it’s an unfortunate terrible tragedy. Look how much Baldwin has already suffered. BTW who was Hutchins anyhow? Not an important person. This is all so hard on Arrec.
My personal hypothesis is that he pointed the gun at the two of them and pulled the trigger to prank them, thinking it was a blank. He can’t admit that because it’s obvious and actionable irresponsibility amounting to involuntary manslaughter. How live ammunition got into the gun is a separate issue, as is how many people in the chain of custody failed in the simple action of checking the thing. But even so, the critical act was pointing the gun and pulling the trigger - without that, the rest wouldn’t have mattered.
This was obvious from the beginning, glad they are finally waking up.
Baldwin deserves to be charged as the producer of a film with unsafe policies that led to an death.
As an actor Baldwin was entitled to assume that the gun was not loaded with a live bullet. Movies and movie-making are make-believe, not real.
I’m no fan of Alec Baldwin but he didn’t murder anyone. How does a live round of ammunition wind up loaded in a movie prop gun? Those movie set personnel in charge of those items need a closer scrutiny.
As I have said before, the blame lies with every person who handled that gun that day, not just Baldwin.
