Netgear has patched serious security vulnerabilities in its DGN2200v1 network router, following the discovery of "very odd behaviour" by a Microsoft security research team - a somewhat understated way of saying that attackers can gain "complete control over the router."

*PING* to anyone interested in computer stuff.

Please ping both Apple and Windows fan-bois. This concerns routers, so desktop-agnostic.

I only buy Asus routers, now, but when I had a Linksys, I only used DD-WRT firmware on it.

I now use a different alternative firmware on my Asus.

i put FreshTomato on all my routers ... rock solid stable compared to almost all vendor firmwares, which for the most part are so loaded down with useless garbage that they barely seem to work ... and the absolutely worst thing about these SOHO routers is that they INSIST on phoning home and trying to force you to establish a login account with the vendor ... interestingly, wiki claims ASUS uses tomato as the base for their router firmware, ASUSWRT ...

ADSL modem-router combo box.   Wow!   If somebody still has an ADSL copper wire connection they need a new interface.

FReepers were still screaming "Bandwidth" about large graphics back then.

I have used Linksys router for a decade with zero problems.
Very good router, I leave it on all the time.

Also any communication with HTTPS is encrypted anyway.
If someone intercepts the messages they can not decipher it unless they have gang of Russian military people looking at it.
