I first saw the house on this one, watched this morning. I really, really don't like Rick Steve, but he goes to interesting places, the bastard.

Agrigento was once the third largest ancient Greek city (after nearby Syracuse, and Athens), and the glimpse of it in the Rick Steve vid wasn't enough. The Tiormina theater Rick visited was (in the 1990s) used in the Woody Allen movie "Mighty Aphrodite".

This is not very related, but was a search hit while looking for the Villa Romano del Casale, and pretty interesting.

I bought my mother a book last month called Magnificent interiors of Sicily.

My father was from Naples and came here when he was six. My mother’s parents were born in Sicily

Last time I went there were no direct flights from United States to Sicily. I don’t know if that has changed

I know my first comment on these threads is usually a joke but not when it comes to the ancestors’ Homeland :-)

Yeah, that's probably wise, since it's Sicily...

Lol

I will wake up with a horse’s head in my bed. Though I really don’t have much money so it just might be a cat’s head

Funny thing about The godfather, a pregnant woman was almost beaten to death, a whole bunch of guys were shot to death, one had a knife put through his hand but what got everybody really upset was using a real horse’s head from a factory.

That’s what I got my mother!

I didn’t know it was called a coffee table book :-) I just needed something with a lot of pictures and bigger words because she is older now

I don’t understand some of the urinals.

Did they stand in the middle and shoot at the walls?

Or did they stand by the walls and shoot towards the middle? If they did it that way, then you didn’t want to be standing across from “Cicero Of The Strong Bladder”.
