The Lively Center of the Lagoon Nebula (Astronomy Picture of the Day)

Explanation: The center of the Lagoon Nebula is a whirlwind of spectacular star formation. Visible near the image center, at least two long funnel-shaped clouds, each roughly half a light-year long, have been formed by extreme stellar winds and intense energetic starlight. A tremendously bright nearby star, Herschel 36, lights the area. Vast walls of dust hide and redden other hot young stars. As energy from these stars pours into the cool dust and gas, large temperature differences in adjoining regions can be created generating shearing winds which may cause the funnels. This picture, spanning about 15 light years, features two colors detected by the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope. The Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8, lies about 5000 light years distant toward the constellation of the Archer Sagittarius.

Those are amazing images from an amazing AMERICAN technological innovation - a space telescope that is exploring new frontiers of space - exposed to us for the first time.

Hubble is a great example of American Ingenuity and the American Spirit of exploration, curiosity about the known and unknown and seen and unseen worlds.

May it continue in perpetuity.

But this is what the likes of Antifa and their cohorts in the Democratic party wish to destroy.

Surely the largest image ever posted here. But that’s not an award category.

I can’t,for the life of me,understand how any astronomer can be *convinced* that there’s no God.

This could be God having a cup of coffee.
As the clouds condense then more stars are born.
