Climate and the fate of corn

It is a remarkable thing that the U.K. and Irish parliaments were able to hypnotize themselves and pass climate emergency legislation when the southern half of the planet has not warmed at all in 120 years. For example, this record of Cape Leeuwin (courtesy of Erl Happ), on the southwest corner of the Australian landmass, shows recent January mean maximum temperature back below the 120 average:

The U.K. and Irish parliaments were able to work themselves up into a lather over climate even though parts of the northern hemisphere set new cold records this last winter. A spike in food prices due to cold weather might get them to see the world as it really is. What is happening in the Corn Belt this season may be enough to burn through the global warming groupthink.

It has been a very wet and cold start to the 2019 growing season in the Corn Belt, with the consequence that a lot of farmers have not been able to get into their fields to plant. For example, this graph is from the USDA's Indiana crop progress report of May 20:

CLIMAGEDDON looms large in their pea brains. But, flooding, cooler temps, tornadoes could be the cause of a lower yield this season.

The minimum of sunspots presages a cooling trend, perhaps another Little Ice Age such as the Maunder, Sporer and Dalton Minima of past centuries. Isn’t it wonderful that American Ingenuity and Government Pressure are bringing on line practical and near cost effective machinery to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere just as the world is entering a phase in which more CO2 would mitigate somewhat the effects of declining temperatures and shorter growing seasons. The Spreading of reflective aerosols in the upper atmosphere to reflect sunlight as EPA has said in papers that it is doing and accelerating and promote cooling is also nice. Perhaps a North American famine will spark a neo French Revolution as the Dalton Mimimum caused famine across Europe and triggered the French Revolution

Hormel Foods Corp. cut its outlook for sales and profit
after an outbreak of African swine fever in China raised pork costs.
The shares fell the most since August 2017.

Hog prices (wholesale) are expected to be raised
another 10%-305 over current prices.

This is a result of the pork virus in China,
disease in the domestic pork ,
and world-wide demand for pork protein.

“Dalton Mimimum caused famine across Europe and triggered the French Revolution”

It will spark WW3.

The next war will not be fought over oil, etc. It will be fought over food.

And the country that will win WW3 will be that which emerges with its infrastructure relatively intact and a whole lot fewer mouths to feed.

I challenge David Archibald to invest his life savings in corn futures. They’re sure to go sky high because of the shortage, right?

I dare him!

Baby Blue. Great tune. Speaking of which...that is one seriously difficult opening riff. At least for my fingers. My...bad fingers. Seriously though. It took me many hours to even get close to a decent run at it.

There will be no winners in WW3.

Civilization as we know it will cease to exist.

That has been my thought for a couple of years. I am not sure it will amount to WWIII, however, but it will surely spark more wars around the globe than even the Moslems can gin up and there will be a population reduction. All this is especially because our intellectual class is trying desperately to reduce food production with all this AGW claptrap. The whole AGW thing feeds right into the Population Reductionist desires of the elites and they know it. It is such a neater way to do it than simply slaughtering populations.

Could go that way. Yet there are two countries that will make sure it spreads globally. China and India.

Both have nukes.

Might we see both coasts of this country get nuked? If for food, they simply wont want to destroy the grain belts or food producing areas of this land.

The Reds could invade through the southern boarder through Mexico. Hell, they already have been doing that. Salt enough foreigners within this nation and then start it off.
