The Reds could invade through the southern boarder through Mexico.

The invading army is already here, ‘Fast and Furious’ weapons caches at the ready.........think about it.

near cost effective machinery to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere

Not close. But in a couple decades there will be cost-effective panels removing ambient CO2 using sun and water. However the fuel produced will all be burned as stored energy on cloudy days and in vehicles.

Another decade or two after that, there will be cost-effective machinary to sequester carbon by making artifacts out of it. But that is quite a few decades away.

I see what you did there ... trees and plastic. Love it.
And your link still works! http://shpud.com/myths.html
I’ll have to check it out.

I heard about machinery to convert atmospheric CO2 to fuel that is workable now but not quite cost effective. I don’t know that because I did not see it in print, just heard it on the Coast to Coast from a weather guy who is not an AGW believer.C2C has some interesting and real guests, physicists like Michio Kaku, on sometimes. Mostly it is “spiritual” hogwash, though.

There are extremists who talk about CO2 removal, whether they believe CO2 is bad or believe CO2 is good. They are mostly "way ahead of their time". The people who believe CO2 is bad are control freaks who could care less that the planet was CO2-starved and adding CO2 was the best thing we have done.

Obviously I am one of the latter, also an engineer, and I keep up with the trade rags that talk about the actual real technology not the theoretical stuff that still needs to he scaled 5 orders of magnitude. I also happen to believe that too much CO2 is just as bad as too little. We are not close to having too much and the technology will catch up as the need arises. Some basic R&D is still needed, and a big helping of capitalism.

If there is really a dangerous climate problem, the only way it will get fixed is through the free market. The political solution will only be to concentrate power in the hands in some small portion of the elites that all think they are about to take power totally. Sea Level rise is a constant since the end of the Ice Age and is dealt with as it has been dealt with for millennia; people move farther inland . seawalls get built. New buildings are built uphill. All other facets of Climate will be dealt with similarly. The way guaranteed to screw up things, including the climate, is to turn over everything to the experts.

I call it tyranny of the model. It was predicted by Donald Fagan:

A just machine to make big decisions
Programmed by fellas with compassion and vision
We'll be clean when their work is done
We'll be eternally free, yes, and eternally young

The only worse thing than putting "scientists" in charge of everything is putting "scientific models" in charge of everything.
