I do not get why Mods pull Threads
Self | 3/25/2019 | Super7man

Posted on 05/12/2019 6:54:31 AM PDT by super7man

This morning a post was pulled regarding the discovery of Mastadon bones in maybe Indiana. The reason cited for pulling it was "chat".

I don't get it. The article was NOT a vanity; it was a published news article. Things like that are interesting and should be allowed.

For God sake, they let a letter jumble puzzle be posted every morning.

Does FR have a defined criteria as what is allowed and what is not.

This kind of thing has happened more than once.

Yes, it is Robinson's site and he can do what he wants, but to me this is really annoying.

There is some hope:

In the future, please place science material in chat - not news.

You learned not to share home-made pizza with a post-partum whack-a-doodle?

Thank you. I am embarrassed to admit that I did not understand how it worked (before your post). It is really embarrassing because I have been here a long time.

You have improved my future FR performance.

Thanks

I went to MY Preferences to look at my start options. I only three options:

Thread Pagination
Browsing
Windows

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks.

Sorry, it's been awhile since I set up my preferences, so I did not remember a couple of steps.

After you click on "Account", you can also select "Manage Blocks", which lets you arrange your sidebar in order of things of importance to you. You can also reach "Manage Blocks" by scrolling to the bottom of the blue sidebar, to the link "Configure Sidebar."

"Manage Blocks" allows you assign priorities to the type of articles you want to push to the top of your blue sidebar. Don't forget to hit the "Modify" button at the very bottom of the page to activate your selections, or your choices will be lost.

I believe I may have been mistaken in thinking you could eliminate various topics entirely from the front page of the Forum. On review of the front page, it looks like you can go the the box "Browse by Forum" to single out only threads of a given topic (i.e. Bloggers & Personal, General/Chat, News/Activism, etc), but I don't see how you can eliminate categories entirely so as to not be aggravated by the puzzle threads and other fluff.

As an earlier poster advised, you can address your questions by freepmail to "Admin Moderator" and get better answers than I have been able to give. Do be polite to the mods.

Well, as my last post pointed out, apparently I'm not too sure, either. Truth be told, computer instructions everywhere are often very confusing to everyone but the developer. So be sure to ask the mods, and you will find out what things are possible and what are not.

For instance, there was once, I hear, a function allowing us to highlight some text in yellow, like you would on paper with a yellow marker; but it's not here any more. Also, there used to be a way to see how many views a given thread has generated, which is usually more than the number of actual posted replies. This used to be very important when FR chapters had a lot of street rallies and then posted after-action reports, to see how many freepers were becoming aware of how to engage in activism, even if they hadn't replied on the thread. But things have changed here and there over the years.

I posted a thread in chat about women who made and ate a pizza with her placenta. Thread got pulled and I got banned for a week.

Well, this may make you feel better:

Stop eating the PLACENTA, mothers are told as doctors warn celebrity-loved practice has no health benefits and is dangerous 'because it could spread killer bacteria which may even be passed to the baby through breastmilk'

Sounds good to me! Before a reputable scientific resource like the DailyMail (guffaw!) posted this news, I always told squeamish new moms whose midwives tried to make them eat placenta, "Just tell them 'no' because you're VEGAN."

I had a news article pulled within minutes.. two days later someone else posted the same article in the same forum from the same source. It was left up and got over 200 comments. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. They do it because they can.

Mods must have changed shifts!

Don't let this site evolve from a place to get news into a central social activity for your life.

Wait, what?

Yaelle, dear little married Buttigieg gets a lot of gay razzing on her because the agenda of the gay lobby is 180 degrees radically opposed to the foundational tenets of JudeoChristian Western Civilization. We don’t want those sweet little “married” gay folks to get the power to totally collapse the moral order and start outlawing established religion with the full weight of the Federal government and the Executive Branch. He has already expressed his antithetical and heretical views. Most of the gay joking here is “shorthand” for “let’s not elect our own demise because bake the cake or ve haf vays to make you.”

yeah, I have news aggregators for getting the news.
I come to FR for the snark. And the news that dribbles in.

People who are different are now considered equal in value to anyone else...

All people are born in the image of God; and if they have any sense, they seek Him instead of trying to redefine reality or elevating their personal passions over the eternal laws of their Creator. There is a difference between the worth of people and the worth of various behaviors.

...and homosexuality is now an accepted sexual orientation.

Actually, no, it isn't. It's only accepted by some individuals. Most of the U.S. has had its "acceptance" forced on us and our children through judicial activism and leftist indoctrination. A large majority of states outlawed gay marriage around the time of DOMA, only to have their "consent of the governed" overturned by rogue judges in state after state, who had been pre-organized by radicals. Opposition to legalized gay marriage, like opposition to abortion, will never die due to man-made laws having been passed, because it violates the eternal moral law established by God.

Freedoms for masses of humans, as the constitution attempted quite well to achieve, mean all freedoms, not just the ones you like.

Not forever. God has not been tolerant of sexual immorality, from Genesis on through the present day. Only two Israelites survived the 40 years in the desert because of their immorality consorting with pagans at Peor and frequent disobedience to their anointed leader, Moses. Nehemiah, when he came to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, had Ezra read the law to the people and separated the Jews who had married non-Jews forcibly from their pagan wives and children, even beating some who refused to separate. On and on, throughout history, to the present era. I could cite many examples, but take for one, the debauchery capital of sex tourism in Asia, Banda Aceh, being the site of the huge tsunami that wiped it out. Now, 15 years later, it has sharia law and adulterers are publically whipped, because the pendulum of human cruelty has swung and there is no pretension of the relative "kindness" of Western penal codes.

the kindness our religions and cultures have ingrained in us lately has helped minority groups

God is not a socialist, making everybody "good" and "deserving" and being "nice." His laws are not mere suggestions. There will be a correction.

1. I’m not dishonest because I picked maybe a weird place to voice my discomfort.

2. Your argument is all about the cons of gay marriage. It’s really not what I was talking about. I was talking about dumb childish insults on individuals who happen to be gay. And not seeing how it fits in with love of country, Gd, and freedom.

No. Arguments about gay marriage or the gay agenda belong here. Of course.

But childish insults aren’t the same as an intellectual debate.

I do miss the view count.

A lot more people look rather than post.

I am simply not connecting your thought out and cogent religious arguments against homosexuality and gay marriage with FReepers making derrière and other crude jokes about Mayor Pete. They really are not the same thing.

My argument is not about the cons of gay marriage per se.
It isn’t even “My Arguement”.
It’s a definition of what the purpose of marriage is which has been in place for thousands of years.

People getting together for purposes other than procreating and raising progeny don’t meet the definition.

Don’t attempt to assign another definition to marriage and then ascribe “judgementalism” or “intolerance” or “unkindness” or anything else made possible by attempting to redefine the word.

What matters in marriage is providing the same two people who conceived them to children and having them raise them.
