Really sad that the little girl died, but if ths was an emergency why not go the the Emergency Room to begin with? Or, if it was such an emergency, why not be at the doctor's office early?

She says she warned them she might be late when she called the clinic. How many millions must the doctor pay based on her word?

In a socialized "single payer" health care system you
shall be where you are told to be
when you are told to be there or you will suffer the consequences.
All sarcasm aside, though, what motivation does a doctor in a socialist system have to perform any work outside his assigned shift?

This is in the UK. Lord knows how they operate over there, but it’s not good. And I doubt they can sue, and if they can it won’t be the payday it is in the US.

Don’t be late, it’s rude.

and she was let down by the failures in the system,
Incorrect. The system worked exactly as intended.

Libs want to bring that type of health care here.

Dreadful story. And I’m sure no British doctor ever keeps a patient waiting.
To: humblegunner
Since she didn’t have a car, it’s likely she waited on slow performing public transportation.

I’m a little confused, too. She knew she didn’t have a car, and presumably she knew how long it would take the reach the clinic, so why did she make an appointment earlier than she could get there?
That said, I assume they saw the next patient in line earlier, rather than spending the time sitting on their thumbs, so they should have had time for the young girl.

If you can even get an appointment. I had to wait 4 days with raging ear ache and swollen head. The ER wasn’t much better.

it’s England, there’s no tort lawyers. Tough shit if the NHS kills you to teach you a lesson about punctuality.
To: humblegunner
You should know about being rude.
To: nickcarraway
That’s what you get when the government is in charge of medical care. It is the only option, like the DMV, and doesn’t care if you don’t like the service. There is no other place to go for better service.
The NHS is in big trouble. The American media deliberately and intentionally refuses to let the American public know about the insanely long waits for medical care.

Or, if it was such an emergency, why not be at the doctor's office early? She called to make an appointment, they said be here in fifteen minutes and she said I might not be able to get there that fast.
