Vanity - Trump, Truly a New York City Kid from head to toe.

Posted on 01/25/2018 7:49:38 AM PST by JLAGRAYFOX

Yesterday, POTUS, Trump declared he favors a Ten/Twelve year path to citizenship for the "illegal" DACA "Kids", who are now, almost all adults. With those simple words, he has castrated Democrats, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and the entire failed, non-issue, Democrat Party.

Bottom line, if Trump sells this plan to the entire GOP, the Democrat Party will cave to all of his demands on tough "needed" immigration legislation, including the building and financing the "Trump Wall"!!!

Trump was raised in New York City, and he knows and clearly understands what a "melting pot" means. His "1950s-1960s", NYC, was populated with Irish, Jews, Italians, Blacks, Germans & Puerto Ricans as the major immigrant groups in the city. Trump grew up among them and lives with, and understands them all. He knows, that when he was a boy, you had to be an Irishman to become a cop and an Italian to become a fireman. As he grew older, the mix changed and today, the "Great" NYC Police & Fire Departments are filled with the Irish, the Italians, the African-Americans, The Puerto Ricans, loyal Americans, all, working as one big successful band of brothers & sisters.

One of these days, African-Americans & Hispanics will come to the conclusion, that the Democrat Party has never been their friend or ally. The eight years of Obama/Clinton rule yielded little gains for both American Blacks & all Hispanics. The truth sometimes hurts, but, the truth is still the truth. "SAD"!!!

Bottom line" Trump is the champion for all Americans. Case closed.

The beauty of the 10 or 12 year wait period is ‘illegals’ can't be used as cheap labor by unscrupulous Americans. AND they don't undermine wages for Americans.

If some restaurant wants to pay them half what they would pay an American - and THAT ‘under the table’ the illegal can say ‘can't do that, I could be deported’. Same with the corrupt growers.

It's a ‘win’ for the DACA’s and it's a win for American workers.

Well, this is obvious to anyone who grew up in NYC or was even awake during the 50s-60s or watched Blackboard Jungle. I would disagree that the fire department was Italian. It still seems very Irish to me today much less the 60s. \

Needs to be a bunch of qualifications to DACA CACA.

if any of the following are true, you are deported:
1. criminal record
2. over 23 and no STEM college degree
3. over 18 and no HS dipolma
4. cannot pass an English fluency test
5. if you have taken government assistance of any kind

1. must be fingerprinted and checked for criminal activity
2. pass a drug test

The rest of deal to include full wall funding and no DACA CACA until it is 100% built. No chain migration. No Lottery. No birthright citizenship.

It’s a win win. He’ll get the wall and will win over many latinos by solving the DACA problem that Obama couldn’t solve.

The democrats will be exposed as the incompetent frauds that they are.

The aspect of ‘Amnesty’ in Mr. Trumps proposals will annoy many republicans and people who voted for Trump.
The reality is that both parties want some form of this for their own reasons, and mass deportation of these people remains unlikely.
The upside is both parties agree that Trump’s Wall is starting to look more likely. Quid pro quo, and stuff.

I you had called President Trump “a New York City Kid” during the primaries, you would have been banned from FR.

Glad to see we’re more free to speak our minds now that those ugly primaries are so far in our past.

Blanket amnesty will destroy us. Wait on citizenship will be challenged and SCOTUS will accept and agree with challenge.

The intent to take over America is growing in the increasing Latino/Hispanic culture because of La Raza radicalizers and revisionist history.

The problems with the immigration population are deeper and more destructive than people like the author living in analytical land only can fathom.

During the 50’s and 60’s, the NYC Sanitation Department was mostly Italian. My uncle, a U.S. Army Tank Battalion Staff Sgt during WWII, was a career civil service officer in the NYC Dept of Sanitation. He ran the mechanical broom division.

Trump knows how to negotiate.

Schumer/Pelosi/Graham have no clue. For them, negotiating means getting the media to intimidate the GOP.

Trump knows that one of the most important things about negotiating is for both sides to come out with a “win”. One CEO for a huge company I’ve worked with in the past said there is no such thing as a “win-lose” deal. We both have to be able to claim a “win” or we both lose even if our side comes out way ahead on this deal. Like it or not, Trump has to work with Ds in the future and must make sure they get to claim a “win”.

A lot of conservatives will probably hate the deal, and Ds will brag about DACA with a path to citizenship (which Rs have opposed in the past). Trump knows the Ds need citizenship for a “win” but Trump has now arranged to share credit instead of that being a sticking point the Ds heroically pull off for their side. It will still be a “win” for the Ds but even on that issue it won’t be a loss for Trump/Rs.

The biggest win for Trump will likely not be in this (though it will be yuge), but in what Trump gets for the future (infrastructure, etc) by giving Ds a claim to a “win”. Allowing Schumer a “win” here makes future wins easier. I imagine Trump will have something binding (which we may not even notice) that ensures Ds live up to any other agreements they make (i.e. infrastructure bill, obamacare fixes, not stalling the wall in any/all ways possible, etc)

Well, that makes sense. But they didn’t run the fire dept. That was Irish. It still is if the guys who hang out in front of my local during the summer are anything to go on.

What about all those children who came here a few years ago under Obama? Many were not kids either. Their parents are still in their native land. They should be deported.

Pretty good list, sane and compassionate.

Contrary to popular belief, most conservatives would be uncomfortable with wholesale deportations or forcing people into camps or "Gulags". We have hearts, as well as minds.

Priorities, though. When your boat is sinking, you fix the leak first, then deal with what's already in the boat.

Build the wall. End the concepts of chain migration and anchor babies.

Border secure and invasion over, then we address those who are already here, case by case, using your guidelines. Some, maybe even most, could be productive citizens in time.

Trump knows that one of the most important things about negotiating is for both sides to come out with a “win”.

Patronizing and condescending post. A FReeper trying to pass off another Democrat fix for open borders as some kind of complex negotiation maneuver, or "win-win". I call bullshit. What makes you any kind of authority on deal-making? Or to try to explain it to anyone else? We've had several iterations of this phony back and forth quid pro quo between Dems and Repubs over illegal aliens invading the U.S. through a non-defended, non-militarized open border, going back to 1986. Trump's proposal for a wall is not the first nor will it be the last. Each time Congress and successive administrations promised closing the border, building walls, and appropriated the dollars to do it, all we ended up with was what the Dems wanted, which was an increase in the number of illegals breaking the border and our laws to get to the U.S. It didn't matter who was in the White House. Simpson-Mazzoli 1986 the Dems got what they wanted, Repubs got the shaft. We got an increase in illegal border jumping and more and more welfare programs for the illegals, while the dollars Congress supposedly set aside for border security mysteriously dried up and the terms of the deal were never discussed again. This is deja vu all over again. Your memory doesn't go back far enough to give you any perspective. Or if it does, you just haven't been paying attention.

Trump knows how to negotiate.

YES HE DOES. The 10 to 12 year wait is just the starting point of the negotiation it will probably end up at 5 years which is the current policy for lawful aliens.

With the end of chain migration those 800K DACA aliens will not be able to bring in all their family members.

Now that Trump has included a path to citizenship the dems have no choice but to support the bill with all of Trumps demands included.

Its time for an up or down vote. Will the dems vote no on DACA that includes a path to citizenship for the kids?

How will the their progressive base respond to them? Will their be violence? Can the ever hope to be reelected?

Game set match.
