FULL TITLE: Dangerous prisoner who tried to kill a cop escapes from jail - but attorney 'who raised the alarm says staff didn't act for TWO DAYS'
The attorney to a jail inmate in West Virginia reportedly informed staff that a man had fled the premises the day of the incident, according to a new report.
Early Wednesday morning, convict Todd Wayne Boyes, 44 of Caldwell, Ohio, escaped the South Central Regional Jail in Charleston, and has yet to be located.
Officials at the jail alleged they were not aware that the accused attempted murder suspect had gone missing at the time.
Attorney Kevin Davis said he entered the jail that afternoon after his client told him he had an urgent matter he needed to discuss, according to WSAZ.
Davis' client then informed him that 'someone named Todd who had his fingers blown off had somehow gotten civilian clothes and escaped,' the newspaper reported.
The day after the inmate went missing, jail officials had not taken action on the matter, Davis' client informed him. That's when police got involved.

Deputy Fife was watching some men "at the Rock" when we all know what happened next. Only this time Sheriff Andy could not get back in time so now we have one at large.
IOW, we’re looking at at least 3 days. Two days of no action after they were informed and one or more days for the informant to find out and tell the attorney. At minimum three shifts for three days that officers failed to do an inmate count.
You can bet this is not the only infraction going on in that jail. Everyone from the warden on down needs to be fired yesterday.
From what I’ve heard locally that jail has problems. This dude had a 2 or 3 day head start, I know he is out of West Virginia by now. He’s originally from Ohio, but he could be anywhere,
As an officer of the court, that attorney needs to do some jail-time.

As I’m reading the article, the attorney alerted the jail as soon as he found out of the escape. If the jail staff failed to act on the report, that’s on them not the attorney.
Good gosh
That certainly appears to be the case. I’m thinking that a standing count of everybody who’s supposed to be there would have been happening at least once a day. Apparently not.
