With his retirement rapidly approaching, Melrose Park Detective Gregory Salvi was looking to feather his nest. He moonlighted as a security guard to make a few extra bucks. But he also plotted to steal drugs and guns from the police department's evidence room, according to the FBI. He also schemed to steal a crate of more than 30 guns from the Melrose Park Police Department evidence room and sell them to one of the informants, the FBI said. “The pistols, as soon as the chief gives us OK to destroy them, then I can get 'em,” Salvi allegedly told the...

LINCOLN, Neb. — State Sen. Sen. Ernie Chambers isn’t backing down. The state lawmaker froma Omaha defiantly stood Thursday on the floor of the Nebraska Legislature and rejected many of his colleagues’ calls for him to apologize — or even resign — for comparing cops to ISIS terrorists and suggesting he’d shoot a cop if he weren’t nonviolent and had a gun. “I meant what I said and I said what I meant,” Chambers said. A Vermont woman who sneaked up behind a police officer while under arrest and allegedly tried to slit his throat with a knife was found not guilty of attempted murder. Jennifer Berube, 40, was acquitted of attempted second-degree murder and a lesser charge of attempted aggravated assault on Friday by a jury in Rutland, a city in western Vermont about 60 miles south of Burlington. Surveillance footage from inside the station house showed Berube grabbing Nguyen by the neck with a 2-inch blade in her hand before getting overpowered by several other officers. Nguyen suffered a cut near his jugular...

--snip-- A plan to honor a Harlem cop killed by Nation of Islam radicals is drowning under a flood of racial tensions created more than four decades ago, but no one wants to throw it a lifeline — not even the NYPD’s new top cop. Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is distancing himself from the controversial push to get the street in front of the 28th Precinct renamed in honor of Officer Phillip Cardillo, who was shot and killed inside a mosque run by Louis Farrakhan in 1972 — noting that the community should make the final decision.

Former NYPD detective Bo Dietl told Sean Hannity Al Sharpton’s contention that he did not know he was an FBI informant in the 1980s is “a lot of baloney.” Sharpton fiercely maintained in a press conference earlier today that he was not a “rat” following revelations Sharpton attempted to buy cocaine from an undercover FBI agent. Dietl, speaking Tuesday evening on Fox News, revealed the NYPD had a special nickname for Sharpton after the current MSNBC host became an informant: BO DIETL: There was a lot of involvement with the music industry at that time that Al was involved in....

Police had been called in to quell a student riot in Arizona after the Wildcats lost their game to Wisconsin. The girl in the video did not appear to be rioting or causing a scene, but the officer can be clearly viewed charging her and knocking her over for apparently no reason.

The fire truck had flashing lights turned on and was parked on the side of the street. When he refused, a New Roads Police officer handcuffed and detained the fireman. Briefly, here's the story from the owner's neighbor. A Walton County Sheriff's deputy shot my friends dog last night while the dog was in his own yard. The officer said he shot him because "he had that look". This was one of the sweetest dogs ever...a big clumsy pup that would lick your face off. Yes he was a blue nose pit bull but he was a PUPPY who loves to play and chew stuff up! The dog actually belonged to Taylor, a 5 year old little girl...now COMPLETELY broken hearted, not to mention confused because a policeman, someone she...
