The lion is among Africa’s most iconic wildlife — right up there with elephants, rhinos and giraffes — and also one of the continent’s top predators. But despite its status as one of the world’s most recognizable animals, the lion has lately been losing its grip on its historic domain.

And that’s a good thing. The PEOPLE who live in Africa would like to walk down a path and not get eaten. Just as Europeans and Americans killed off most of the wolves in order to have the lives we have now it would be in the best interest of Africans who are human beings, not pets or museum exhibits to have the chance to progress too.
