Missing Light Crisis: 'Something is Amiss in the Universe'
IBTimes ^ | 10 Jul 2014 | Hannah Osborne

There is a "missing light crisis" taking place in the universe with a huge deficit on what there should be and what there actually is, astronomers have said.

In a statement, experts from the Carnegie Institution for Science said "something is amiss in the universe" with 80% of the light missing.

Lead author of the study Juna Kollmeier said: "It's as if you're in a big, brightly-lit room, but you look around and see only a few 40-watt lightbulbs. Where is all that light coming from? It's missing from our census."

Published in Astrophysical Journal Letters, scientists found that the light from galaxies and quasars is not enough to explain observations of intergalactic hydrogen, with a difference of 400%.

Empty space between galaxies are bridged by tendrils of hydrogen and helium that act as a "light metre".

The scientists discovered that when looking at galaxies billions of light years away in the early universe, the amount of light present appears to add up. However, in more localised parts of the universe, the calculations fail massively...

Yes, global warming is so bad here on earth that the rest of the universe is adjusting to compensate for this hazardous condition. Pretty soon the whole universe will go dark. Somewhere Al Gore is smiling.

It’s more accurately described as

“American lifestyle caused global warming”.

Because that’s what they’re really after.

Sounds like the start of a search for... A huge grant to study this problem before the universe goes completely dark. In less than 10 years. Or maybe if the universe gets too bright.

Is God turning out the lights?

According to the article, the problem isn't missing light. There's plenty of light.

The problem appears to be that there are insufficient light sources in the Universe to account for all that light.

That's it - altogether way too much coal fired industry and power plants throughout the universe. Gore will be all over this revelation, pitching universal carbon credit swaps.

What a bunch of idiots.
Nothing is amiss in the universe. The universe is doing just fine and doesn’t need anyone to tell it that it is missing something.
Not long ago it was “missing matter” which they explained by “dark matter.”
Maybe the “dark matter” is absorbing all the “missing light.”

The only thing that’s missing is these “scientists’” gray matter.

Yes. Clarity. The “greenies” will never say it, but that is the target. Most of us know that.

Green is the new Red.

Lefties, inherently Satan’s minions, HATE having clear definitions.

Shining the light of truth on them pretty much automatically defeats them.

I had a handle on an open message board of “ExposeTheLeft” and that moniker drove them NUTS.

Neal Katz, also a co-author of the paper, added: "The most exciting possibility is that the missing photons are coming from some exotic new source, not galaxies or quasars at all."

I Blame Janeway...

She causes anomolies...

Usuallly because she searches the Delta Quadrant for coffee instead of Colombia...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of the world. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it."

Matthew 24 is exciting and dreadful. However, Revelation 8:12

“And the fourth angel sounded, and third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were smitten, so that third of them might be darkened and the day might not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way.”

Always wondered how that was going to happen. Thought it was pollution from the first three angels. Lots of smoke.

Obama has stolen the light. As the light elsewhere continues to decrease more and more people will run to him, bowing with tear filled eyes. Oh, wait. That’s already happening.

I didn’t see that part. That explains it. The extra light is coming from the great Obama. And old man Bush’s thousand points of light.

Yes, journalism continues to suck out loud. And this study only concerns ultraviolet light, not all light.

Yes, journalism continues to suck out loud. Good description.

What is being reported: missing light sources.

What they report: missing light.

An intelligent 5th grader would have done it correctly.
