Finally A Gun Is Used To Stop A Crime Instead Of Killing Innocent People
Business Insider ^ | 02Mar13 | Henry Blodget

Posted on 03/02/2013 2:40:57 PM PST by qaz123

One of the most common and persuasive arguments against gun control is that guns offer a means with which good guys can protect themselves from bad guys.

In practice, unfortunately, the guns that good guys own to protect themselves from bad guys too often end up killing the good guys' kids or wives or the good guys themselves (either via suicide, accident, or, in some cases, because they're grabbed by the bad guys and used against the good guys). Or, as in the case of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, the guns kill people who the good guys think are bad guys but who aren't actually bad guys.

Have at it Free Republic. I say that Henry Blodget hasn't heard of the Loganville, Ga woman who defended herself and her kids in a home invasion. Might not be a bad idea to flood his inbox with the many many many many examples of people defending themselves.

They still don’t understand. We don’t need guns to protect us from the bad guys (most of the time). We need them to protect us from bad government.

Is Henry retarded, brain injured or in the grip of dementia? Millions of people a year use a gun for defense in the United States.

•Second, the coach was a trained police officer. He knew very well how to carry, handle, and use his handgun. And the fact that he used it effectively under the extreme shock and pressure of being robbed at gunpoint shows how well trained he was.

I notice that the only reason that he sites this story is because the protector is a trained police officer and it fits his narrative.

Only train professionals should be permitted to carry firearms.

The peons must not be permitted arms because they can not be trusted.

Typical Business Insider liberal.

Trayvon wasn’t a “good kid” who Zimmerman thought was bad. He was a kid doing something suspectful, who when Zimmerman followed him, decided to try to kill Zimmerman.

Hence, he was a bad man, an attempted murderer. Zimmerman was able to shoot to defend himself, before Trayvon was able to beat him unconscious.

And of course, guns are used all the time to stop crime. Even once in a while, the police actually use their guns to stop crime, although they usually use them to kill people’s dogs.

The guy that wrote thia article is just another gun-phobe who thinks that only police officers should have guns.

The opponents of the 2nd Amendment have selective memories or are willfully ignorant because they are dozens of examples every month where regular people use a gun to protect themselves. There are countless other events which are not reported where a gun is shown and that is sufficient to deter the criminal.

I’ve no idea why Blodget is opposed to guns. The type of crime he carried out was punished as civil securities fraud instead of a criminal offense that would have denied him the right to own a gun, but still, it rarely results in the fraudster being gunned down by irate investors whose retirement is stolen.

“He agreed to a permanent ban from the securities industry and paid a $2 million fine plus a $2 million disgorgement.”

Absolutely! The Second Amendment was written to protect the people from an over bearing government. We ARE the militia!

And Henery, you’re sure that Martin WAS not a bad guy? You’ve been out of the country too long or asleep.

Guess the mother in GA who used that gun didn’t care if the perp was either good or bad, she adminsitered justice then and there. Good for her.

That's Freepers' fault. If we kept a running total of incidents nationwide, we can instantly educate/challenge these apparently clueless "reporter"/commentators.

the problem is the MSM in the different states totally ignore these incidents, but most of the local press always report them. How can we do better?

“Only train professionals should be permitted to carry firearms.”

Okay, if they want to play that game. I was trained by Uncle Sam many years ago and I have, in turn, trained my wife and daughter.
