9 Jul 10 - Fourteen earthquakes have occurred below Iceland's Mýrdalsjökull glacier during the past 48 hours - one within the last 4 hours. Katla Volcano lies beneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
Katla Volcano usually erupts every century, says Iceland's President Olafur Grimsson. and the last eruption was in 1918. "The time for Katla to erupt is coming close."
"I don't say if, but I say when Katla will erupt," Grimsson says. "We have been waiting for that eruption for several years."
"It can create, for a long period, extraordinary damage to modern advanced society."

Judging by the depth and no pattern to the quakes, I would say they are ice related......I used to know the average for quakes on katla during the summer months but have forgotten it......it's pretty high though. The glacier is very active during the hotter days up there...

Yeah Quix, the majority of the quake action is within a mile.....with very few at depth....not great indications of magma intrusion...more surface disturbance.

OK. THX.
Though . . . I wonder . . . could increased heat from magma underneath account for such?

What you would normally see in that scenario would be quakes at depth rising consistently to the surface. Meaning at the gasses rise from them magma rock fractures would show a pattern of such that you could actually chart it.
However...that is not really evident here right now anyways...!

DID YOU CATCH THE BIT ABOUT THE NEW MADRID AREA SURFACE CRACKS ETC. occurring?
It was a thread on ATS I posted the OP here somewhere.

Nah....if u find it let me know...I have a friend heading down to Tenn. for her doctorate work....and I got her all excited about the smokey’s microquake range...and her proximity to the Madrid fault....I will forward her it if u find it....lol

That is somewhat reassuring, but there will be a solar eclipse tomorrow, and the cardinal cross is forming this month. The period between Jul 23 and Aug 9th will be intense.
So, let us keep our lanterns filled.

As some of you know, I have been predicting a really major eruption some time in the next 5 years as the end of what I have interpreted as an approximate 30 year period of intensified earthquake and volcanic activity on either side of the turn of a century. I have observed this tendency for 1800 and 1900, and now again for 2000. [I have to go to work, but will try to put up more details later.] Also I see Katla for 1755. Check out the same date for the great Lisbon earthquake, and also the worst earthquake in Boston.

Obama’s a jinx to the US. Yellowstone - this is your opportunity to explode...along with the jihadists, Russia, Red China, Iran, etc. Any oil wells or chemical plants that can go off, will.

A cardinal cross is an astronomical configuration where more than several planets are at 90 degrees apart from one another, and 180 degrees in opposition.
Saturn will be opposite Jupiter and Uranus, Pluto will be between them, 90 degrees away from each end. When the Sun and the closer in planets move to form hard angles to the former, a “cross” is formed.
This one happens when the outer planets are in “cardinal” signs. These are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
