Though . . . I wonder . . . could increased heat from magma underneath account for such?
What you would normally see in that scenario would be quakes at depth rising consistently to the surface. Meaning at the gasses rise from them magma rock fractures would show a pattern of such that you could actually chart it.
However...that is not really evident here right now anyways...!
