I don't know the rules about Yahoo posts, so I just put the link. I knew that he had suffered a stroke a couple of weeks ago. Very sad.

Very sad. He was a real character and a strong man.
Oh my, so sad...he was one of the best reasons to watch that show. Prayers up for his entire family and his crew. Way too young to go.
RIP Phil.
I always feared that lung cancer would take him. A stroke? Dang. RIP.
Very sad. He was a real character. The show was made all the more interesting because of him and his two sons. Deadliest Catch will not be the same without him.
Rest in Peace Captain. /Salute
Here is a man who worked extremely hard his whole life. He sacrificed for his family and died much too young.
Soam Beach had some serious balls.
Godspeed hoss.
Prayers for the family.
Love that show. Real men.
Not that I like looking at men.... its just, I get tired of watching shows with wimpy little female-men that have never worked a day in their lives.... all fancy and pretty.
These guys are men. I couldn’t do it.
RIP Phil.
Sad ping.
Prayers for his family and his soul.
My thought too...I was certain he was older than me. I wonder if the blood clot problem he had last year caught up with him.
Too bad, Captain Phil and the Cornnelia Marie helped make the show the success it continues to be.
RIP Captain Phil.
“
I love the show, he was one of my favorites. I cant believe
he was only 53; he looked like he was 60 plus.

I meet a broad spectrum of customers in my line of work.
You see folks that look like they’ve defied their chronological
clock (of aging)...and some that have accelerated their aging by
whatever means (stress, overuse of substances, overeating, etc.)
I will miss this guy on Discovery. He was a hard, hard worker.
And hope his children take his situation to heart and treat themselves
better than their hard-working father.
When I heard the news about a DC captain dying, I immediately thought of Phil Harris. He was always chain smoking and didn’t exactly look the picture of health. Too bad, quite a character.
Smoking increases the risk of stroke.
Sorry to hear, condolences to the family. He appeared to be a hard / soft hearted guy. When he was sick with the blood clot in his lung you could see he was worried about his family and how they would manage without him. He probably did his job right and they will miss him but be OK.
