the fat girl

I always thought the most unattractive thing about her was her freckles, which I associated with the malignancies affecting my younger brother, but most others in my high school class saw that she was fat, something I myself did not overlook, but minimized because of the freckles seemed a greater affliction.

I never knew the fat girl very well, if at all. The fat girl was from the south side of town, Old Families and Old Money, with its own grade school, while I was from the north side of the town, New Families and New Money, and a nouveau "progressive" elementary school.

And then when both sides of the Sandhills town of circa 3,000 were united in junior high school, I was in grades 7A and 8A, while she was in grades 7C and 8C. There were three classes of 7th- and 8th-graders (including 7B and 8B), where one was placed based upon ostensible intelligence. But in retrospect, perhaps the fat girl was not, really, stupid.

And then through all four years of high school, I do not recall that I ever had a class that included the fat girl. She always remained an ambiguous blur, and while I was a callow, shallow lad who could be rude and insolent much of the time, I never saw anything in her that excited my interest.

Can't top that at all. Went to my highschool class' 20th anniversary reunion and found there were maybe 75 Vietnamvets there, and most of them had seen the Nam and gotten hurt ~ some quite bad.

That part was a downer.

It would have been better if she had a birthmark that looked like Jesus on her back and even the Mexicans that flocked to see it wouldn’t date her.

LMAO!

I’m a bit concerned that a fat girl going postal in a 7-11 is some kind of prelude to a hack writer carrying an Uzi into an Office Depot or something...

Lots of hidden frustrations here!

Pointless. That is the word I was going to use to describe this waste of time story. Blah.

I guess the moral of the story would be...Not all high school fat girl stories have happy endings?

Well, we haven’t got to the part where she makes it on “The Biggest Loser”, loses half her body weight, then in the twelfth week, at night on a trail, she ambushes then deep-fries Jillian!!
With heart-healthy vegetables, of course!

I know; it appears I laid an egg here, and such a very large egg.

It happens; one turns out a lemon once in a while.

But I do take criticism seriously, so as to keep going in the right direction.

That’s your problem, you should’ve laid the fat girl and not the egg. She’d be happier and more well adjusted today. Got a membership at Jenny Craig. You know the score.

This picture was in an email a long time ago talking about how to crop pictures.

Crop everything off beyond the left side of her head and you have a slender looking, big boobed woman!

-some strange threads today..

I liked your story. Most have these stories like this but are not thoughtful and observant enough to put the pieces together and not many have the talent of story telling that you have. Very good. Keep up the good work.
